    Is it new? Gravy
does it spark? if no, you need flint. If yes, check the wick.

It sparks just fine, and is brand new. As far as I know it should be working perfectly....

i'd check the wick. if it sparks then it's definitely not the flint.

i use the same fuel in mine and it has worked since day one.

if all else fails, send it back to zippo. they do have a lifetime warranty.

If it sparks, you either need a new wick, or you didn't fill it properly. If the wick is fine, try filling it and allowing the insert to sit upside down for a few seconds before replacing it into the case. That should allow the wick to saturate with fluid.

    Crazy question...

    Is the wick wet?

If you just filled it, it should be...

If not I'd try just a few drops of fluid on the wick to see if it lights then...

Maybe that would help promote the fluid in the stuffing to move on up the wick.

If not, it's got to be bad fluid.

I think you guys were right, too much fluid. I pulled out half of the Rayon balls last night and let them sit to dry. Refilled this morning and it's ready to go! thanks for the advice guys.

Sometimes you have to break the vapor lock on freshly filled Zippos. Zippo used to tell their customers (via their paperwork in the early days) to open the lid, swiftly raise your hand a few inches to break the vapor lock, and strike the wheel on the way back down. You can also just blow in your chimney a little before striking it.

It's really a bit like flooding an engine or motor... if there's too much fuel vapor and not enough air present, the spark won't ignite the fuel vapor. You have to introduce air somehow.

i didn't even think about that. i've done that before and it took a few strikes for it to light and stay lit.
