Anyone know what type of cord is usually used for zipper pulls? It's clearly not 550 paracord.

No idea. But why don't you replace it with 550. Or firecord for that matter

Simple aesthetics. The paracord just feels clunky in that context, and it's certainly not long enough to be useful.
    Though firecord might be.

    I'm still interested to know.

Gutted paracord is what I use for most of my pulls. I don't worry about using the paracord for anything in an emergency. I have other cordage for that purpose.

It may also be Type I paracord or 275 cord. Both are quite a bit smaller in diameter than 550 cord. I generally prefer Type I paracord because it keeps the round feeling of the cord over 275 or 550 that is gutted.

Usually it's some type of cheap nylon cord or thicker bank line. I always cut it off and replace it with 550 cord

I used 550 on my Rush 72 and am happy with that.

You know I replied thinking this was for jacket zippers (not sure why). All my bags have 550 cord pulls it just feels nice and generally fits the zipper pulls well.

I use Sterling Rope' s 1.5 mm cord, it's very good as is CountyComm's. 3/32" tether nylon cord.
