I just received a ZT 0566. I really like the knife so far. However, the tension in the AO is pretty tight and requires quite a bit of force to open the knife,
Question: Should I adjust the tension, or should I wait for it to break a bit before I start tinkering with it?

Flip it a bunch for a couple of days, then see if it doesn't ease up. I would not adjust this soon.

Mine needed some break in time also, the detent/spring combo is still pretty strong but it is way better after about a week.

Thanks, I'll give it some time before making any adjustments.

Back the pivot screw off just a hair. Kershaw/ZT over tighten a lot of their knives to avoid issues when shipping them across boarders. If it is tight and not super easy to open, it is less likely to be mistaken for a switchblade by a well meaning but uninformed customs official.

    Edited for spelling

Just for the record, you're wrong to create this thread without pictures. I'm just saying. :D

It breaks in, but remains relatively stiff. Your getting a double detent, one from speed safe, and a detent ball in case you take out the torsion bar, something I highly recommend.

I backed off the pivot pin a bit and it made a good difference. I might take the spring out and see how I like it but haven't done it yet. Also, it makes a difference how you hold it, if your finger is pressing on the lock bar it's much tougher.

Mine took about a week of flipping open to loosen up some. When I first got it my finger got sore trying to flip it open.
