That's my story, and I'm sticking to it.

Five years of EDC rotation, upgrades and modifications. This pen still has a place with me every single day.

I had 2 of those. Both got their clip bent out of shape somehow so I stopped carrying them. They were good pens.

Zebra has 2 small telescoping models (a small and a really small) that I got a fair amount of use out of with a space pen refill in them. One of them is so small that I could put it in my wallet. I bet they're still around here somewhere...

The F-301 compact is still my ballpoint edc of choice, as well. I've carried them for several years and have not found anything superior.

While I liked the F-301, I found that one of my dogs like then even more. Had to switch to the all metal telescoping one. As Flatline said the really small one is around and fits in a wallet nicely or the top spiral of a 3 X 5" notepad.

Are these pens still easily available in the US? The supply seems to have dried up in UK and the only ones available are at stupidly high prices :( ?

By the way, the clip can be gently pulled out and reshaped with pliers.

    Cheers

    Dave

A similar pen with a superior refill choice (imho) is the OHTO Tasche. I believe it actually has been around longer than the Zebra. All aluminium body, comes in a number of colours. Is available as a ceramic rollerball, needlepoint, fountain pen and even a pencil. Capped it is 4 1/2" long, posted it is 5 1/2". I have had one for the last 8-10 years as a pocket carry, replacing a bullet spacepen, when I am not carrying a full sized pen. Only issue is that the barrel diameter is smaller than I would prefer.

It is available of the standard pen sites (Jetpens - USA, Cult Pens - UK).

I'm pissed because I EDC one of these and went to order a new box of them. Apparently, they're discontinued, as the only place I can find them is on eBay for something like $100 for a box of 12.

If you have pen bodies left, you can cut down standard G-2 refills to fit. Other than length, they are the same.

should have seen my wife's face when I handed her mine, out of my Wave pocket. At least the ink was still good.

One disclaimer: Be sure you cut BEHIND the wax plug. That means you have to cut down standard length refills that have been used. If you cut in front of the wax plug, you'll have a mess.

Also, Pilot makes them with the name Pilot Pixie instead of G2 Mini. You can find them on Amazon & eBay, but for some reason the price has recently gone up, though not as high as the G2 Mini. I wonder if Pilot might have discontinued these too.

Yea, I don't think the Pixie is gel and you can't get it in basic blue ink.

Yep, they are gel, and they come in black & blue. They're just basically the G2 Mini with a different name. You can find a dozen blue on Amazon here for $35, which works out to a little less than $3 a pen.

I broke down and purchased a box of these. Same gel pens, under a slightly different name.

While the box is showing purple, you can clearly see it's blue.[IMG][IMG]
