Really appreciate your impressions on the Code4! Your experience with the lockup and the back lock tallies with some of my past experience with Cold Steel and is exactly what I've been concerned with... Don't think I'll be pulling the trigger on a Code4 anytime soon!

Here's a few favorites.
I was playing with the Code4 today and I realise the primary reason I dislike it. The scales are wide (metal) but very thin. The entire knife is smooth. When I hold it in my hand ready to open it, the back of the knife is too thin and smooth to gain traction lodged between the base of my fingers and top of the palm. It slides around as I try and push upward on the thumb stud to open it. It is stiff to open at the best of times. When in use I experience similar problems, and can't imagine using it as anything but a one-cut task. A working tool it is not.
Cold Steel Code4 is the tanto in the middle...
