My wife always made fun of me, but understood that she did the same thing with purses and jewlery. Thanks to Sandy she now has a significantly improved appreciation for multiple flashlights. 3 days into the power outage she hugged me and said "i'll never give you a hard time for buying another flashlight again"

Now I have the PERFECT excuse to buy items as I need them to make leather molds from. So now my wife looks over at my shelf of knives, flashlights, and guns and sees them and "revenue producing devices".

The only problem is that if she caught me EDCing one of these items she would be all over my chili about whether or not I REALLY need them all.

    Catch 22 I guess.

Mine does not get it. However, she becomes one step closer to embracing it everytime she needs something and I have it. I have gotten her to carry a spyderco ladybug (in purple) and a streamlight microstream in her purse for the last 6 months so thats progress I would say.

My Baby gets me. She knows I like to be prepared. She does think the "knife thing" is "getting out of hand" but thats just because of the prices of some of them, not the amount I own. Oh BTW, thank you all for posting pics of HUGE colections so I can show her and say "SEE! I'm not that bad!"
She refers to my edc as my many "'cutriments". She gets a good laugh watching me get dressed/undressed and teasing me. She did buy me my iPad though and everynight Sits right next to me while I poruse EDCF. Even pauses live tv so I can read her posts of y'alls exploits in EDC:)
She appreciates it though, because I always carry this stuff to either protect her, or make life easier for her. She's my lady:)

Just refer her to the General Section of bladeforums and she'll never complain about your knives again :)

I won't mention names, but one nut there spent almost 100K on knives:eek:

Pretty sure the "Need More Gear" t-shirts are out of stock, but there will probably be more on hand for the holidays.

Just had another short discussion of "emergency bags" as she calls them. To quote her, "maybe we should have an emergency bag for everybody" which means one for me, my wife, and each of our kids. My starting suggestion was for an overnight bag for everybody, each with a change of clothes, book, deck of cards, snacks, and basic toiletries, but that quickly morphed into a just in case we need to leave and not come back bag for each of us. There have times in the past where an overnight bag, packed and ready would have saved some time, travel, and trouble. I was able to mention these times and the benefits of having a bag prepared and not have any negative feedback. I was instead greeted with an eager participant in the conversation. This is going to be fun.

We have a pantry in our basement. We will likely store them in a clearly marked large tote.

You should see the way I pack. I used a 55+10 Deuter backpack for 3 days (I know it's definitely overdone, but I just wanted to use it). I used barely half the stuff I've packed, but you might need some kind of 10 meters of paracord just in case :D. For the next trip (4 days) I just pack my TNF Big Shot maximum 33l and still didn't need all the stuff I packed. Seems that I'm a bad packer or just a more or less "good" preper...:D

When my GF bought me the most expensive knife I own, I knew she was a keeper. She sees the utility but doesn't get the addiction to multitools and flashlights, but she definitely has the knife addiction.

Well, to update my earlier post I did end up getting my wife a pink Benchmade for Christmas. About a 1.5" blade. It's a little-bitty thing, but she was excited about it. Its being pink and small allows her to carry it at the hospital without much scrutiny.
