keychain goes with me everywhere i go so i can get back in my place and that automatically gives me alot of stuff.

essentially i only need my keys and a pen and a small knife. but i always carry my phone and some form of wallet and chapstick.

Oh, i also feel naked without a watch now.

I've added a Fenix E01 to my keychain, so, technically, I have a light and knife (SAK Classic) on me whenever I have my keychain, which is always. Add to that my wallet, hanky, phone, pen, and watch, and I'm set. My basic tenet is as long as I can cut, see, write, and tell time, I'm alright. Since im a buyer for an aerospace company, this is what I've found will get me through the day, but changes when hiking, camping, etc.

The bare essentials would be : Phone, keys, wallet. I work in an office, so I could do without a knife, light, fak, pen and paper since we have all of that in the office. Once I'm home, I have them in the house too. My car would be the only other place that I'm at on a daily basis, and I have all of these in my console too. I still carry a knife and a light, just out of convience and because they make me happy :)

keys, wallet, watch (I love watches and own many!) Blackberry Style, Kershaw folder of some type. all the time.
Add light when it looks to get dark, usually always got one in car, bag, and a few at home. Gun and ammo are added when needed and not at work.

After reading through the posts on this thread, and other threads here of a similar nature, I find myself looking at the items I automatically carry everyday (that I never really thought of as "EDC" until a few weeks ago), and analyzing why I carry them. Flashlight, knife (Benchmade autofolder), multi-tool (Victorinox), index cards and/or small notebook (Rite-in-the-Rain), at least two pens, a small tri-folded American flag with Saint Michael medallion, and of course my cell phone. Even downrange I carry the same basic kit, with the addition of at least one weapon and body armor. To me, all these things are so much a part of my daily life that I can't imagine being without them.
