Very nice! I've carried one of the previous gen Charge TTi's since 2008 or 2009 (whenever it came out). Fantastic tool, but it was always WAY too stiff. I've heard that was a common problem with them and was all prepped to send it back for warranty replacement in hopes of getting the new model as a return...

Then finally lost it last week. First full sized Leatherman I've lost in 15 years :(. Not bad for carrying it every day though. Now I'm looking for one of the new versions as a replacement... or something a little more slim.

Oh, and I found that the pocket clip was the best way to carry it- no pouches or crap hanging off of my belt.

    Appreciate all the kind comments!

ascii: Sucks that you lost your TTi. My Charge was a bit stiff at first when deploying the plier so I continue to open and close it constantly the first day and now it opens and closes fairly smooth. I'll take your advice on the pocket clip - thanks!

Good luck and I hope the new Charge is better. Mine got worse over 4-5 years. Ended up needing to use another tool to open the tools. But wait! Bonus feature of the pocket clip is that I could remove it quickly enough, pry open what I wanted to use, and then re-attach ;-). Even the clip was a multi-tool!

Have to say though, I've never met a nicer straight edge blade on a tool.

Just from the few days of use with my Charge I would have to agree with you! :)

Every time this comes up it gives me something to think about. Over 16 years I have collected several Leathermen in different sizes and models, TTi included, others have come in and out of my hands, and every single one of them was slightly stiff when new, quickly breaking in to just fine and staying there. Am I especially lucky, or is this a cosmic reward for something nice I did and don't remember?

I love the pocket clip. It's the best of any knife or multi-tool I own.

Wasn't planning on acquiring another Leatherman so soon but couldn't pass up a great deal I found on a brand new Wave. Date codes 0213 and 0313 - still a baby. $30!

And then there was one more...

The Charge TTi has come a long way. I have one of the first gen ones... I wish I had the S30V blade. I actually broke the tip off of the 154CM blade... while cutting.

I got a Tti a few days ago, considered it to be my grail MT. Honestly, I'm a little underwhelmed. The grind on the knife is awful and the files don't line up well. I do love the locking system and the tool selection and sheath are awesome, however. Just not sure about the quality control.

    I'm considering trying a Spirit.

For the price point, I felt the same way when I first got it. Why take all the money to have these expensive materials and then half arse the assembly? I'm considering sending mine in for warranty repair with the hope they might just replace it...
