Like the title says, would you wear a G-Shock to a formal occasion? If so, what model?

Pictures of the watch if possible would be nice; I looked on their website but nothing seems to work in a formal setting, but that could be because of how they market their watches...

This is my current G-Shock: http://www.amazon.com/Casio-GA110C-1ACR-G-Shock-Analog-Digital-Multi-Function/dp/B003URUMX0 and it looks great and goes okay with my tux, but I was wondering if there was an even more classy looking g-shock, OR a classy looking watch with the same toughness of a G-shock.

I wouldn't, but my Dad, who is a in management and wears a suit every day has wore a timex ironman as his only watch for years and now has a Cassio illuminator.

I've worn a G-shock to many formal occasions.

I don't see any good reason not to. Personally, if I noticed one at a formal event( or any event) , it would make me want to strike up a conversation with that person. Inviting conversation isn't usually a bad thing.

I wouldn't wear boat shoes with a tux, either.

I'd do whatever I felt like. Some days it's Carhartt jeans and a flannel shirt. Other days it's a suit and tie to McDonald's. If I felt like wearing a g-shock with a tux, I'm gonna. Along with Chucks and Aviators. And an XM-18.

I think the problem is that for most people they picture the iconic large honkin' chunk of resin plastic.

Google "dressy G-Shock" I am sure you can find a G-Shock that would be fine at a wedding.... especially if you have large wrists. Casio isn't the only company with a lock on oversized watches.

That's said, I would still be tempted to opt for the Longines Wittnauer TTC Longlife.

Nope. That's what my Gucci is for. If I didn't have a dress watch, then its better to go without because I will have my cell phone on me somewhere and I can look at that if need be.

Pretty sure I have, being Scottish I wear a kilt instead of a tux, and since I lived in England and now the US so really a G Shock is the least of my worries.

That reminds me I need to get a decent sgian dubh.

I wouldn't, only because I have more appropriate alternatives.

But honestly I don't think anyone would take much notice. I only personally only notice someone's watch when it appears to be something really unique.

I have and I do, it's either that or my breitling, but that's just reserve for weddings. ;)
Believe it or not, I wear a tux jacket an waistcoat combo almost every night with my g-shock. ;)

Well, you can wear any thing you want. Mis-matched socks, brown shoes with a black suit, plastic digital watch with a tux. But, you won't be complying with the rules of social convention. And, yes, sorry, sometimes you have to.
