So Strider has collaborated with 5.11 to produce a limited edition Ti frame lock limited to 511 pieces. Available in black or green G10- and I love earth tone gear, so I'm intrigued straight away. But $600 for anything from 5.11 seems absurd, right?

However, there is already one glowing review up on the product page that I think has me sold on it. Check it out.

    GREAT VALUE

This knife is the best! At first I was a bit skeptical about this small folding knife, but, in just a few days of ownership, the 5.11/Strider SMF Knife has changed my life in more ways than I can count! This knife holds and edge, cooks toast, plucks a mean banjo, folds nicely for storage in a pocket, cuts things, helped me get my bachelors degree, and quite unexpectedly turned me into a Navy SEAL! I couldn't believe it! The 5.11/Strider SMF Knife was forged in the fires of Mt. Doom so you KNOW it will stand the test of time. The blade of this knife also burns with an eternal flame. Not sure why that feature was included though, as it can make pocket carry somewhat uncomfortable. Buy this knife! It's just like every other folding knife you own, except better in every possible way. The 5.11/Strider SMF Knife also did a great job of lightening my wallet... who would want to drag all that extra cash around anyway? This knife is high speed, low drag, and all it does it win, win, win, no matter what!

BOTTOM LINE Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Now that's a glowing review, no doubt. To know that the knife "cuts things" makes me feel pretty good about sending 5.11 $600.

HAHAHA, "cuts thing". Like anybody is going to believe that.

Makes toast? On the fly? Like... I can be in a survival situation, escaping and evading soccer moms, starving to death, and then... POCKET TOAST?!

    SOLD!

If you don't carry it every day, it's not every day carry.

at that price point I wouldn't want any G10 in the handles. I'd want full titanium or ti and carbon fiber.

    I CAN'T spend $600 on a knife. :frantic: I really want a CRK Sebenza and I can't afford that. :(

(And I don't want anything forged in the fires of Mt. Doom anyway...)

EDIT: Now this however... this could be a selling point. Would this knife get me, say, the girl from the Wendy's commericals?
If so, well, I don't really need BOTH kidneys...

Ya, she's all girl next door.

Speaking of Wendy's and girlfriends, I used to have a picture on my work truck's sun visor that you could only see if you pulled it down. I used to tell people that it was my girlfriend, but they be surprised because I'm married. I'd say my wife doesn't mind just so long as I didn't do it too often and they'd have to take a look.

    Picture of a Wendy's Baconator.

    Bhahahahah! True story.

What, you think I'm only this way online?

Mmm... a Baconator would go down pretty good right now... too bad I'd have to drive 18 miles to get one... :hungry::furious:

At first I thought the review was meant to be ironic, then I thought, if it's not it must be April 1st. Then it dawned on me..................

It says a lot about the culture of the blingy knife/gear internet community where simply having the money to buy expensive stuff gets you some kind of recognition and 'respect' that people would buy that.

Some forums, to really be in the club, you have to drop that kind of money on customs and so on. Not here though, thankfully.
