MB? changed Memory only.
I found a MS troubleshooter program, that wiped out Win update to no updates, no history, just spinning there looking for updates. guess I'll reboot and try looking again. fun night. thanks for saki.
2 hours of searching for new updates, maybe this Microsoft Troubleshooter was a mistake.
Safe Mood does not allow Windows Update?!!! will try some of their repairs.
I think any changes to hardware beyond additional storage drives requre the liscence to be reactivated for lack of a better word as tera tike said
Only hardware is just a stick of 4 GB MB. Hard to get into Safe Mood, this Thnkpad does a error if I hold the F8 button down too long.
Managed to get into Safe Mode/ System Recovery Options. Ran: Memory Diagnostics and System Restore to 7 March. waiting for results
. May pull the new memory and test that.
that did help, no surprise. Going to swap the Memory next, that is the only hardware change.
If the memory stick was broken the system wouldnt even boot up, id suggest double checking the windows activation
boots fine, I can check Task Manager Services and see if anything is not 'windows based'. anything else?
Next step? get a win 7 64- CD on ebay and reload? I don't see any of the saved sites about win 7 download anymore.
Dont repurchase windows... follow the instructions i messaged you then download the installation media to a usb thumbdrive
There should be a option to repair windows when you boot from the thumbdrive
Just found a download from Microsoft to use. thanks.
So. Do you have the white window pane icon in your system tray for a free upgrade to Windows 10?
Might want to consider it.
Not ready for another OS. That MS site says the Key was by a manufacturer?? The Win 7 is on a WD HD, I thought someone just pulled the old one out and put this in and loaded from a retail disc. I'll see what else I can figure out.
Have you attemped to contact the customer service from the company that built it because its from the manufacturer? They may be able to help because it isnt from retail copy, you may also be able to get assistance from microsoft's customer support
I'll look into that. thanks.
Just a note, I figured how to uninstall updates. On April 10, I started to delete the March updates and say a April 10 windows update there. How it got there ?? I did uninstall all of march, reboot and still can't download updates. I bought a third party 'Win 7 System Re-install DVD', but I am leery of trying it yet.
I found a link about deleting the Windows/Software Distribution files. reboot and try Update, didn't help.
