The main reason I registered here was because it's a great forum and I wanted to tap into the knowledge on it. But the post order contributed to the choice.

    I registered. I post(though maybe some would prefer I didn't).
But I don't see the posts in chronological order.
Is there a trick to accomplishing that?

I for one qualify for the less than 50 posts, this is the only forum I actually post to at this point. I'm sure that allot of folks here (like me) are probably spread pretty thin and the forum just isn't a huge priority for them. I also don't usually post unless I really feel like I have something of value to add to the discussion, and not being particularly knowledgeable or funny I don't often have anything to post. But I do love having the forum to read, learn from, be entertained by and occasionally put in my 2 cents.

You might want to be careful what you ask for!
A few years ago I subscribed to the Porsche Owners Mail List(yes, I know it's a slightly different application), and suddenly I was getting 600-800 emails a day! ! !
I appreciate what alex is saying about not posting unless he has something worthwhile to contribute.
Can you imagine wading through 12,000 posts a day, most of them parroting what has already been said, or wandering off topic, or starting new threads(a lot of which might not really apply to EDC(like this one :) )), just so they can be 'posting'?

    Partly it was curiosity.
Partly it was related to the health of the site.
Someone had suggested an idea for paying the server fees that leveraged the large userbase.
A moderator countered that though there are many registrants, there are actually few active users.

So that's why I started to dig and why I asked.

Finally, why do you care why I care?

    ;)

Sometimes people with the most posts have the least to say.

I dont claim to be an expert on all things edc... mostly i just like to read and keep up with the latest and greatest and see what the "must haves" are... most of the time there is no need for me to throw my 2 cents in but occasionally ill speak up. but if everyone posted all the time there would just be a lot of redundant info and a lot of clutter. but Thats just me though

    It's a profile setting.
There are a few things you can tweak.

Maybe they registered and it wasn't for them...or instead of lurking and reading, the register and read.

My self-centered opinion is that folks register and not post much because.....

1.) They came here from a gear review search

2.) The EDC concept is too weird for them.

    3.) Are lurking

    4.) Their lifes/priorities have changed.

5.) Joined under a dummy name to check things out and then re-registered with a legitimate account.

    6.) ???

If you don't post much, you don't get banned as much

Keychain? I didn't get a keychain. Why didn't someone tell me about the keychain? Did I miss something here?

But I'd gladly pay an annual fee for this site, I was so excited when I found it and showed my wife and said "see, I'm not the only one." She, for some reason was not as excited.

    1. At the top of the page below the EDCF banner, click on PROFILE (between SEARCH and CALENDAR).

    2. At the left side of the page, click on Look and Layout Preferences.

    3. Uncheck the option "Show most recent posts at the top."

    4. Enjoy reading by scrolling down the page.
