In a pinch, yeah it would work. But I wouldn't do it too often (last resort, really) considering that they're made to take NiMH batts. The output would be different, too. If I know I'm out for a while, I just bring a backup set of Eneloops in my bag.
I used to carry a 4x eneloop charger for my phone, problem is that there is no circuitry to control the output. So these kind of devices only work with fulky charged cells, and could potentially harm the device. I had to short circuit the cable to use it with my previous phone, and my new one pulls so much power that it only charges for 30 min, after that the voltage has dropped below the treshold of the phone and the phone starts whining about it. I bought this last week and im VERY pleased wit it: http://m.a-solar.eu/EN/solar_chargers_power_bank_7300.htm Regards, tapatalked from holland
I use a Ravpower 10,400 mAh: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B009V5X1CE/ref=oh_details_o06_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 Happy with it, only $40. I think it has 4x 18650 Li Ions inside. Sent from Winterfell using a Raven
Have two portable chargers: Left: Just Mobile Gum Plus, 4400 mAh. Right: Sumajin Powerbank, 5000 mAh, dual USB output.
Just wanted to show the pack has been updated with 4x Panasonic 3100 mAh cells. I moved the old LG 2600mAh cells to my wife's power pack. I use the same cells in my 18650 flashlights and they're awesome. Previous power packs:
I have one of these Snow Lizard 7000mAH. Got it from Office Depot on sale for $29.99. http://www.officedepot.com/a/products/590317/Snow-Lizard-Power-Tek-Battery-Power/
For those DIY ers out there check this out. http://www.ladyada.net/make/mintyboost/ I built one of these into a custom case. Super nice if your just looking for a quick bump of juice to your phone. The batteries will work with all my other devices. It is also configurable to work with different charging schemes very cool if you have an oddball device.
Mintyboost is a cool project. I remembered how it piqued my interest back in 2006 still a very relevant project... Great intro project for kids.
How long can I store a charged, charging device? I will assume each model is different so if you have experiance please name the device and how long it can be carried without discharging and recharging...
This depends on the type of battery/cell in the device: NiMH: a week and you see a significant drop Eneloops: keep pretty good for 2-3 weeks Li-ion: 4 weeks +(havent tested this yet, does someone have data on this?) tapatalked from holland
Seriously? Where are you getting your numbers from and in what device? Sent from my ridiculously large Galaxy Note 2.
I use a pentax K-m SLR, and have had serious problems with normal nimh batteries during long treks without power (two weeks in a kano on the amazone river, last 4 days without power for the camera) Bought eneloops, that perform much beter, but i have a link somewhere, i'll post is somewhere tonight. Can anyone recommend a compact size charger for a laptop (16-19v). There are some of them but their size is nearly half of the laptop itself. I need something not larger than say a Iphone.
I just carry a spare phone battery in my phone case, and a couple of AAA lithium primaries for the iTP flashlight. It works out smaller and lighter than any other solution I've seen.
I carry a Mophie Juice Pack. 2.5 charges on my iPhone, partial charge on my iPad and some charge on my MiFi. Or any combination if the three. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk 2
Serious contemplating getting the linked unit. I have one of those cheap 18650 battery banks. It carries 4 18650's. I noticed a major problem with these cheap units that's a show stopper for me. The batteries drain, quite severely, over time. But, what I do like about it is the ability to charge the batteries using elec/solar and having the option to remove the batteries to use in my flashlights etc. Do you know if the Ravpower can be opened and have fresh batteries installed? Also thinking about going the Guide 10+ route, but like the 10k capacity of the Ravpower. Truth be told, I'll probably pick them both up!
