I am going to buy a new pistol this week. Looking at the:

    S&W Bodyguard .380 and the SIG P238

Which is the better gun? I have heard good and bad on each...I like the mini 1911 but like the laser and price of the bodyguard.

    Thoughts?

About three months ago, I started carrying a Sig P238. I have had absolutely no problems with it. I bought it from a local dealer for $449 plus tax and it came with a factory Sig laser installed.

I have fired a friend's Sig 238. It's a very nice pistol, and my friend is quite happy with his. The only issues he's had with it was with Herter's, and after inspecting the ammo (which even visually was a mess) I don't blame the Sig.

I have never owned nor fired a S&W Bodyguard. However, I've read of many various problems that owners have had with them.

Therefore, my recommendation would be for the Sig 238...keeping in mind that my opinion is partially based on the word and experiences of others. If you haven't already, you should borrow or rent one of each, and give them a try.

Let us know what you decide, and how things work out with your choice.

You can put a laser on the sig

Haven't shot the s&w but the sig is a very solid gun

Another Sig vote here also. I handled both.

Shot the Sig... I have had nothing but good luck with them. I ended up going the P239 in 9mm.

    Good luck

My friend got the bodyguard for Christmas so I plan to check his out later today or tomorrow. I have played with the sig and liked it a bunch.

I looked at both (I own a Ruger LCP w/CT laser). The SIG is better built then the S&W (& my LCP), but is it worth that much more????
    To me, NO.

I would go with the S&W of the two,,, But, I still perfer my LCP!

    Good Luck,

Nice. While I haven't been shopping for them, or looking at prices, from what I've heard that sounds like a good deal!

When you get the chance to take it to the range, let us know how it goes.

The Sig P238 is one of my favorite CCW guns, I carry my women's whenever we go out together because I don't have one.

I shot the p238 today and it's was great!

I am however disappointed with the long trigger pull. Seeing how the Sig has an external safety, I find the hard trigger pull is not needed.

Good little carry gun though, I highly recommend it. ;)

The Sig is nice, but I dont like carrying single actions as carry guns. I opted for the S&W when it came out. I have sold a pile of both and still prefer the BG for carry.

    Good luck, with your purchase.

The only reason not to buy a Sig is because you can't afford it.

If you ever find your self in Huntsville Alabama, your welcome to shoot my LCP... Its got crimson trace, pierce mag extension, keltec clip and all that, but it'll give you a new appreciation for your trigger!

Ps. Please practice drawing and FLIPPING THE SAFETY OFF often until its 2nd no 1st nature. That is the only downside to the sig.
