I prefer the Monster. The 007 just looks a little dated and "plain jane" to me , while the Monster has more of a "presence". Thats the only way I can describe it.
I'll take the opposing position. I like the Seiko 007 for is simple, understated, and classic design. My personal favorite is the Seiko SKX009 "Pepsi Diver."
I have both and I think the Monster wins by a small margin. For me it depends what else I'm wearing etc as the monster is on a really nice chunky leather strap and I have the SKX007 on an original Jubilee - I'm thinking of throwing a nice Watchadoo on it for more impact though
the "engine" inside is the same for both,
it's an aesthetic choice:
007 if you want a watch with a classic look that's the epitome of 40 years of Seiko divers evolution
Monster if you want a modern, chunky and "legacy free" design
both are great watches
Whats the outside diamiter on bolth cases? I see conflicting numbers between websites on their size.
I have both. I definitely prefer the Monster. I've found it to be more comfortable. It has a better quality bracelet, if you prefer bracelets. It has a domed crystal. More lume. I also prefer the looks of the Monster.
I've not had a Monster but i love my Yobokies modded Skx007

I usually have it on a G-10 NATO but here it has a Toshi Matte black.
I am partial to the skx007 over the monsters - I like the classic lines of the skx models and generally prefer the bezel and hand designs as well. The skx models also wear smaller than the monsters and on my 6.5" wrist that makes a difference!
I vote for the skx007.
I like its classic design.
The monster is also a great watch, and I can understand why people love it, but the 007 is "timeless" IMHO. In fact I'm wearing one now!
Tough choice as I own a variant of both. My grab and go has always been the SKX. I agree with what the others have stated. The SKX is just classic.
Look at the skx173... It might suit you because it is a bit of both watches (monster & 007) IMO. I have one and I love it's classic style mounted on a super oyster, jubilee, or a 22mm Zulu.
Between those two, the 007, but I prefer the 173 to both.
I think I definitely decided I prefer the Monster, especially as my 007 is up for sale with a few others.... thinning out time.
Hint hint ;D
SKX173. Round markings on the 007 look gay somehow.
I've got two 007s and a black monster. I love both for different reasons. The black monster is a solid beast especially with the anvil band. It's large and gets noticed. Some days I want something much more laid back but still with a bit of dress to it I go for the orange face 007 with jubilee band. Days where I'm off duty and just want something comfortable and fun I go with the yellow face 007 with black zulu band.
That's it exactly. Two different watches. Personally I think the 007 is a classic. However I'm also partial to the in your face design of the Monster. Honestly you can't go wrong with either. If it were me I'd get a Monster in orange and a more subdued classic black for the 007. They're both reasonable. What's better? Both! ;D
007 by a large margin for me!
Bumping up an old thread. I've got both. And I'll say I prefer the 007. I just prefer the bezel. The Monster's huge SS bezel just seems a bit blingy. Both are great watches though.
I've got the 007, but may pick up a monster at some point.
