    I bought an Emerson CQC mini about 6 years ago, and hated it a week after I got it. I continued to carry it to see if it grew on me, and I have had the blade reprofiled by my bladesmith 3 times now to revise the edge and use it daily. It prys, cuts, pokes, scrapes and begs for more...not bad for 130.00, had Emerson replace the lock once, and bent one clip, which they replaced! By my side every day. I'm getting another for my son for when he gets a bit older.

    1a = Spyderco Delica
    1b = BM MiniGrip
    3 = Boker Trance

    Blade over 3 inches in MI can be considered a dangerous weapon, so that limits my options.

    My Spyderco Lum C46 tanto (black PE, black G-10)=favorite

    I love the stoutness of the knife, and how it falls into my hand. Very good balance, and locks up as tight as anything I've held.

    I have a lot of knives, and have gotten rid of more still, but my favorite knife is my FRN Dragonfly. I have knives that cost ten times as much, but the Dragonfly, IMO, is really close to the perfect EDC. I am sure the G-10 version is better, but I can't justify the increased cost and weight (the G-10 weighs almost the same as my Delica 4). 90% of my tasks need nothing more than the Dragonfly.

    Currently I am really enjoying a Spyderco Meerkat. It has a fantasticly sharp blade, good size, and great ergos for a knife its size. Plus the phantom lock is just fun to play with!

    How odd you beat me to this post as the Spyderco Meerkat is my favourite little lock blade. It has proven itself during the past five years for cutting boxes and envelopes open. Cutting sausage on the braai (er ...BBQ), slicing fruit and biltong (er...beef jerky??) and the phantom lock has won me a couple of beers here and there as noone has figured how to close it.
