I've often wondered why there's two types of time on one watch face. After all, most people will be lazy and read the Digi and ignore the Ana, right? Please help me understand why it exists; I can't think of a single reason.

I think that Ani is faster for approx, but digi is faster for precision.

Most of the combos have the digi look anyway.

It is 5:30 at a glance, 1727 with the digi.

I used to use Ana digi a lot in the military. Analog was local time, digital was time back home, but really I just like having the digital for the alarm, stopwatch, and timer. I used to just prefer reading an analog watch face.

As noted, two time zones can be useful (local versus UTC/GMT/Zulu, travelers, etc) ....

Personally, I find analog easier to read quickly than digital "at a glance" (especially if the numerals are small and/or poorly lit) - :)

Additional watch "complications" (chronograph, alarm, day/date, etc) are much easier and cheaper to incorporate electronically in digital form, than mechanically in analog form.

As Quixotica said, it's great for those who live in two time zones. When I worked in the satellite broadcast industry, everything was in EST even though we were in Mountain time. Having a watch with both and not have to fiddle with it was convenient. Took just a little getting used to which was which but was better than switching the display and always being in the wrong one.

As mentioned, dual time zones. However, both of my ani-digis have other digital functions like stopwatch, countdown, and alarm. Best of both worlds; quick read of analog & other useful digital functions

There's an old joke about this, you know. The purpose of the analog hands is to tell you the time and the digital part tells you how to write it.

Another use for the analog would be as a rough compass direction estimate, when the sun is up.

I appreciate having the day and date available on ana/digis. Some like the other functions you can have too, such as countdown timer and stopwatch. Personally I use countdown timers a lot and this is why I mostly wear digital watches, as on many ana/digis the digital displays are either too small for me to see comfortably, or the hands partially obscure them at times.

One of the reasons I switched to straight up digital.

I bought this for the stopwatch (which I never use as it is too mall to read when I run) but I really like it for the perpetual calendar.

Does ana-digi keep time identically? Do they show one and the same time without loosing/gaining comparing to each other?

Every one I've had has kept pretty similar time. Maybe +/- a few seconds per month, if that.

There may be a few exceptions, but I believe the analogue and digital time are usually kept by the same movement, so will be exactly the same.

I prefer ani-digi combo so I can read analog but have a alarm, stopwatch, etc. There are very few pure analog watches with alarms.

The hands on my t-touch function as a compass etc. that, and they glow in the dark so I can see them when I can't read the digital time.

It makes it look like you can read an analog watch.
