I used to EDC a low price brass cross around the neck but haven't in 20+ years. I've been thinking about it and other types lately.

Usually, nothing when off duty. Always one of my Marine Corps dog tags when on duty.

I have a bright red neck lanyard on my keys, as well as a small flashlight. I don't normally wear it around my neck (I prefer to keep my keys in my bag) but I sometimes do - it's a quick safe place to get them out of my hands (I hate having them in my pocket) and it's way easier to unlock the car with arms full of groceries. Plus the lanyard makes the keys dead easy to find in a bag or on a messy bench. Finally, having the flashlight on the lanyard is super useful at times, I can put up with a bit of key jangling to get the job done.

when I'm heading for the backcountry, this little lanyard goes around my neck- I have the identical lanyards for my wife, kids, grandkids if they are going (minus the knife)

That cord looks strong - I hope you have included a break-away...

Medical ID necklace, dog tag style. I opted for the dog tag and ball chain over one of the nicer looking ones because people, including paramedics, expect dog tags to have information on so they're more likely to check it than a round necklace on a sterling silver chain

Sterling silver anchor style chain and pill tube. This was my grandfathers. He wore it every day even before it had the pill tube for his heart medication. I wear it now too. I don’t currently have anything in the tube. Hopefully I will never need that medication, and can figure out something different to keep inside.

That looks like a great place to store some emergency cash, depending on how large the tube is, if you wanted to use it for something

Thanks! I do want to use it for something and that’s a great idea I appreciate it. It may be too small depends how much I can fold a bill to fit it in there.

I've got one of those knives. They are really handy! Mine is a combo edge and does great with cutting cord or rope.
