Exactly. Frankly, whenever I see someone talking about carrying some bag and 9000 things "EVERY DAY CARRY", I just chuckle. They must not have a job. I don't know any job that would allow you to walk around with a ninja bag EVERY DAY.

This is a great thread. I live in a suburban area but commute to NYC. I am always looking to lighten the load but still be prepared. Here is what I don't carry.

-tactical light, I found that my little Olight i3s is all I need.
-tactical blade, I have no training in knife fighting. SOG flash is all I carry.
-fire making items, arson is frowned upon here. I do carry a bic lighter in case a gal needs a light ;)
    -whistle, I can scream...loud
-pry bar, I carried a shard, never pryed but it did open a beer or two. It now stays home.
-paracord, carried it for a time, never needed. It stays home.
-FAK, I carried one but I have whittled it down to a boo-boo kit. Band aids, aspirin and Neosporin.
    -signal mirror
    -spy pill bottle
    -Mylar blankets or bags
    -bandannas towels or rags

I do carry some odd things but hat is for another thread.

I'm sure I have responded to this thread.
I use the heck out a pen. So there is always one one me.
Knives (Get the Point?) are well covered in my pockets.
A Primary light and a backup.
And scissors (in the form of a Classic SD) are on me.

Don't carry fire on me but have a Jet Lighter in the truck.
Have a full size Crow Bar in the truck.

    No whistle. No Paracord.

Counting only the stuff on my person:

Med stuff of any kind. Band aids? Sorry, pal. Apply some pressure or something.
Fire starter of any kind. Don't smoke, and don't light. I have emergency gear in my vehicle.
Tape. People keep ranting about how wonderful gorilla tape is. Mmmkay.

Usually have a pen, but less so when I'm not wearing a collared shirt.

I never (at least up to this point) carry the following items:
*Prybar- Don't really see the need, i use an edge on my LM to open paint cans and similar containers.
*Gun- It's not legal in Norway, but I wouldn't carry one anyway because i have no need for one
*Firesteel- I carry a lighter, and living in an urban area, I could probably find as many BIC's I would like in case of the apocalypse suddenly occuring
*More than one knife- I feel the plain and serrated blades on my LM Charge performs well in every task I'm likely to put them to.

Nobody outside of law enforcement should carry more than one knife

What makes them special to need more than one knife? If there is a need for it why not? I have my LM charge and i also carry a spyderco at work and also keep a hignokami as my carpentry knife. LEO's are actually the ones i see as not needing multiple knives depending on their position. I think it goes by personal needs not just your position. I think there are also some who use theirs to eat If thats the case I think its better to have a separate one to do other tasks wouldn't want tape or other foreign materials in my food.

    Items I don't carry:
toothpicks - If i need something for teeth I'll keep some colgate whip in my locker
Batteries - I only keep the rechargeable tek 4 that are made for my flashlight nothing else
paracord - no real need in NYC for paracord
firearm - local laws suck here
    fixed blades - not allowed

I'm assuming you mean "I don't carry a gun because i don't think anyone outside of law enforcement should. my weapons are a phone and a camera and common sense.

I never found the need for a fixed blade knife, i carry about 5 folding blades that's enough.
I do have a diving knife for use on the jonboat but i found that somewhere."

I'm never sure when folks are trolling. I'm going to pretend you aren't.

I realize there are a lot of folks on this forum for whom carrying a weapon brings them great comfort.
My beliefs are mine. If no one outside of law enforcement had a weapon then perhaps they wouldn't need to.
    But alas, that isn't so.

Regarding knives, correct me if i'm wrong, but I didn't think municipal law enforcement personel were allowed to carry knives as weapons, just as a utility tool. Ergo one is plenty.

For myself. I emptied my EDC and found a SAK on two keychains, a leatherman micro, a opinel in my food pouch, and two stanley workknives. Not including the scalpel that was six. For school days I have reduced it to the Stanley and the SAK on a keychain.

No one outside of law enforcement should carry more that one knife eh?
Is that like no one NEEDS an AR-15?

I guess they better lock me up then. I never leave with out 3 or 4 knives on me and 6 or 7 more are in my truck. I think maybe I have "sharp" disease ....

Guys I think his comment was supposed to be tongue in cheek in response to the post he quoted. Either way no point in turning this thread into a sprawling carry philosophy debate.

I don't carry a compass since I live in the city. But if I'm doing any traveling, I carry a local map.

Trying to suss this one out. Does this mean that you do carry a prytool, but it's just of the medium/heavier variety?
