I was looking at my computer/edc bag and realized the the only thing I don't have well contained are the wires. Any one have any ideas?

I have about 6 or 7 misc cables in my bag at any given time. Right now the only thing i do with them is wrap them up and put a hair tie around them. They still end up all over the place.

So how do you manage all your wires.

I use Velcro "Plant Tie" similar to morrowsmowers velcro cable ties, to tie my cables up.
I dont have too many cables in my bag though, and they tend to keep their curve, and wind back up pretty easily

My solution has been to minimize the number of cables I have to carry. I carry one retractable Gomadic USB cable and a set of tips to fit whatever devices I might need to connect. Everything will fit into a small ziploc bag. Throw in a retractable ethernet cable I'm ready for just about anything.

I keep mine coiled in a Crown Royal bag. The coils remain large enough that the cables don't get kinked and it is easy to throw them in the bag and pull the draw string. There is also room in the center of the coil if you have a wall adapter to carry. Plus it is a free solution!

I put mine in a small back-packing zip-closed back, which I think was intended for kitchen items (forks, utensils, spices). Works great.

    pic here

I like the Crown Royal idea - I think I'll go out and get a bottle, and get right on it. I'm not getting DRUNK, I'm getting ORGANIZED!

I use the velcro ties too, I think mine came from the dollar store. I try to minimize and standardize my cables and battery types so I don't have so much extra stuff in my laptop bag. Aside from the laptop charger itself... if it won't charge/connect via a standard USB or ethernet cable, I leave it at home.

I like the mag holder idea for cable managment too,

I do love my Crown... one of my few weaknesses. I always give the bags to my kids, they stuff CD's or toys in them.
