I kind of feel like I have posted in this thread before, but I couldn´t find it so maybe I didn´t. 90% of the time it´s an AAA light in my left front pocket, below my wallet. If I carry something bigger it´s probably outdoors and/or activity specific.
I have carried a Mag Lite Solitaire from back when they were incandescent. I always have my keys with me and the LED version is always on the keyring. Cheap, durable, easy to find replacements in different colors, and enough light for it's intended purpose(s) without being too bright. Walking in or out of theater, finding something in the backpack, searching for something I dropped, etc. I keep a Streamlight Microstream rechargeable in a sheath with Leatherman Charge for more lighting when required.
I usual carry 2 lights, one Micro 10180 (Quantum or Peanut) on a carabiner: and one larger one in the pocket 18350-18650 at max (Fw3A-C) “The rights of conscience, of bearing arms, of changing the government, are declared to be inherent in the people.” Fisher Ames
Interesting to see the Maglite Solitaire comments...for many years, before the Internet taught me what I was missing, I carried a little incandescent Maglite Solitaire on my keychain, and found it perfectly adequate for edc. It even got me out of a few unexpected pinches from time to time. I often miss my innocence lost. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
The Mag lights served the purpose for me back in the day, from the solitaire to the big 6D, always had to carry spare bulbs, that was my annoyance with them, always seemed to burn out when I most needed them! An Xtar Meteor was my first decent LED light, I still have, use and carry it, I've had zero failures with it, for that matter the none of my lights have failed thus far. I so do not miss the days of the wire filament! I tend to choose 16340 lights for pocket carry, Depending on the situation and 18650 light may end up in its place. Regardless of choice I always carry something with rechargeable batteries.
I still have a mini maglite in my car door pocket and the big D cell under my bed, both incandescent bulb. I've yet to find anything that I trust to be as reliable as a maglite so I still keep them in places where reliability is more important than brightness. I have a jet beam mini in the mail that will ride on my keys as an EDC. In my EDC pack I have a Fenix LD09
During the summer or at work, I have a tendency to pocket carry a 1x CR123 light such as an Olight sMini Cu or S1R . I have a tiny belt holster for these lights too. Winter means bigger lights e g. 18650 cells in a jacket pocket.
I have a thing for maglites also. Sadly had to trash a mini maglite recently due a cell that corroded and could not be extracted from the barrel.... Still have another mini maglite incandescent; also a 'C' cell LED maglite on the backseat of the car. I figure I can light 'em up and then once lit put 'em to 'sleep' with it if need be... L'chaim! Depends on the season. In the summer I have fewer pockets and it obviously doesn’t get dark until much later. I’ll take my mini keychain light, the Klarus Mini One Ti. In the winter, when I have pockets, I’ll take my BOSS. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Depending on occasion, from small to pretty big Olight never let me down, and they are reasonable priced too. Had a few Fenix crap out on me in the past, no issues with Olight.
I've got an S1A Baton Mk 1 and an M1X Striker; both excellent torches. I'm also mulling over acquiring an H1R Nova for a small right-angled torch
