I decided a while back that I wanted my flashlights to run off AA battery, so this dictates the size of my lights. My current edc light is a Thrunite 1Av3 which uses a single AA battery. Long runtime on lower setting and plenty bright on high setting. My house and car lights are all Thrunite TN4A' which run on 4AA batteries. I also switched to rechargeable batteries. I EDC two flashlights on a regular basis; the one on my person is an UltraFire Mini 3-MODE 7W 400Lm CREE Q5 LED Flashlight with focussing ring (they cost peanuts from pretty much anywhere you care to name, but I got mine off Amazon), the other is a Mini Maglite, which is in my extended EDC kit. Both use AA batteries, which makes the logistics a little simpler
I went with a Nitecore MT2A and while I like the light, I wish I had went smaller. It rides in my pack and is way too big for pocket carry.
Interesting question. Mostly category 1 for me Nitecore Tube on my EDC keychain Fenix E05 on my belt Fenix E01 in my Pocket Maximizer Princeton Tec Pulsar in the car's coin bin on a ring with a KERT rescue tool I guess I need some bigger lights....
4/7's Quark 123^2 I have considered replacing it, then I remember I live in Alaska and days get really short half of the year. Then again I have a rather good collection of lights ( pushing 19-25), so I do have a few to choose from.
I have a Prometheus Beta QRv2 on my keychain, so it is always on my person. In my bag is either a Ra Clicky, ZL SC63w, or Surefire 6P w/ a Malkoff drop in.
AA eagle tac d25a click to. Always on my person clipped to a pocket. I also have a nitecore tube on my key chain. Sent from my GT-I9505 using Tapatalk
My EDC is a Blackwater Kite carried on my keychain. It is a small rechargeable 10180 that also can throw 140 lumens on high.
Either Fenix E05 during work days, or Fenix LD12 after dark. Answered cat. 1 because the E05 does get more carry time. There's a spare light in my Maxpedition EDC organizer which is always in my bag, but primary lights are always in pocket.
Led Lenser F1R on my person always. JetBeam BC25SE in my daily bag. Led Lenser M7R in car with a Jetbeam headlamp. Stay Bladed.
peak pocket lights. From left to right: el Capitan in stainless, eiger #4 in stainless, mule eiger in brass, and a 2-AAA eiger with clip Sent from my SM-S820L using Tapatalk
beamshots in the same order. That turbo el cap looks like a lightsaber Sent from my SM-S820L using Tapatalk
99% of the time its a AAA olight i3, the older style with screw on pocket clip. Clipped to my right front pocket, or 5th pocket if wearing jeans. If wearing shorts, then clipped in the right back pocket. I just dont have a reason or desire to carry anything bigger most of the time. the other rare times i think i might need something brighter, i have a couple 1x cr123 lights. If im going out to wander the night for photography, or hiking/camping or whatever, i will take one of those.
