I have an iPhone 3GS and I only have the apps that came with the phone. I don't know, but when I learned that I had to give a credit card number even if all I wanted were free apps I said that I'll get by with the internet access. I hate to put card numbers out there where all kinds of bad things can happen, I use cash whenever possible. Anything that I've ever wanted to find is on the web somewhere, and then I add an icon to the homescreen and it's basically the samething as an app.

I got by with the standard cheap upgrade phones for years and while they did the job, smartphones are just plain cool. When I went to look at new phones a year ago I looked at this one and that one, and then saw the iPhone display over in the corner. I knew that once I started playing with it that I would have to get one.

    Motorola V3I

    Motorola V3I.

    Love this phone!

No apps, but added chess to it.

If I could find this style of phone with an offline web browser, would have changed. Only thing wrong with it for me.

I am looking rather hard at the Samsung X10, which I will have apps on because it has Android.

I really like flip phones, they come with inbuilt protection, so you can just slip them in your pocket. I normally carry mine in a pouch, but in shorts, or a suit, they end up in a pocket. My PDA(The closest thing to a smartphone, I use all the time) is in its metal case, from the moment it leaves the house, till it comes back.

Email, and ask what the deal? Then haggle! Not sure what it like in the US, but in the UK at the moment, they are almost giving away some smartphones, to anyone who will sign a contract.

Turn it into HTML, and provided you can read HTML offline, it works brillantly. Big tip use percentage, and CSS as much as possible. It will take some playing about with, but you end up with something that will work on any browser.

Think the IPhone is a brillantly piece of technology, but they all have one big flaw - no memory cards. Then when you add in the fact that it costs more than a car to run. They are going to screw the internet next apprently.

iPhone 4. Best phone I have ever had. By. Far.

Not gonna list all the apps, but I have a ton. The ones I use most are photography apps. The phone takes such good pictures and you can do quite a bit of editing right on the phone.

My most used app is Safari for web surfing at work. I want to get the new iPhone, but I'm in no rush so I'll wait to see if Verizon gets it. AT&T service is atrocious both at my apartment and at my work.

I was looking around the net on how to extend my battery life on my vibrant and it seemed like those task killer apps aren't necessary. I forget what site I was on exactly, but google will show a number of different links on the subject.

    Samsung E-105.

No apps! You can't even download them on this very basic phone. And that's the way I like it. Did the whole high-end phone thing. Wasted enough money.

Had a former co-worker drop his smart-phone on the sidewalk. Touch screen broke. He couldn't use the phone as a phone to call and let me know he was at the main gate for me to pick him up. I thought he was running late or possibly not coming in at all. Thought that I'd be stuck working yet another double-shift on less than last minute's notice. To me, anything that compromises a phone's reliabilty to be used as a phone isn't very smart at all.
