My nerd love aside from Bill Nye....can anyone identify what pen he is using in the beginning? That thing looks like it writes like a dream and has a nice long tip, which I like.

Looks like it may be a fountain pen...can't tell, but the one angle looks like a nib.

It certainly sounds like a fountain pen. I can't see it well enough to figure the make/model though. :(

I loved watching Bill Nye when I was younger. :D "Richie, eat your crust!"

    Yea...I love me some Nye.

He's getting ready to release a new web show on youtube on the Nerdist channel. Along with Neil Degrasse Tyson bringing Star Talk to Nerdist as well.

People on FPN had this up too. Some are guessing Lamy CP1.

I am quite sure that this is not a cp1, but a Lamy Accent, probably a black "brilliant" with a bruyère grip. The Accent system lets you exchange grip sections. I have a black pen of this system.

What does the winner get? May I chose something already? :Juggle:If you look closely you can see the tip is kind of centered in the middle of the pen. The CP1 doesn't have that, the accent does. Also the pen in the video is thicker than the cp1. I have a cp1, and it's a rather slim fountain pen. You can clearly see the wooden (at least: brown) grip section in the video. There is no cp1 with a wooden/brown grip section. The clip indeed looks like a Lamy, as ac7ss proposed correctly. You can also notice the high polish, as the pen reflects after he is done with signing. I would bet money on this being a Lamy Accent Brilliant with Bruyère wood grip section. Anyone? ;)

Definitely a fountain pen but I couldn't guess what make or model. It does indeed look like the Lamy Accent that Lightleak posted the link to.

Appears to be a Lamy but with such a quick view it is hard to pin it down as to
what manufacturer it is. I agree that it is a Fountain Pen, or is it. Only Bill Nye
    knows for sure.

Here is the best screenshot I could get:

And here the lamy accent brilliant bruyère from a somehow similar-ish angle:
