Well no knife is really "worth the price" beyond the price of an Opinel ;-) The whole Bugout series is a case in point. All of them is overpriced for what you get (not so bad for this one) , but I still have bought 3... ;-) I will report back however from my S-A-M-S-U-N-G S9+ via T-A-P-A-T-A-L-K
There are many opinions about the Spydiechef... One person I corresponded with about it, said he got one to fill that "Slysz Bowie" craving (he didn't want to risk uncertainty with a used one). He likes the knife but one complaint from him was the blade finish. I agree. I don't like the grain. I'd prefer if it was a satin or stonewash finish. I also didn't want to shell out that much, so I opted for the "poor man's" version. The Kizer Wanderer.
Well they arrived :-D First impressions: The Bugout 20 CV is the first bugout i have had that have no bladeplay. The scales are g10 and one can tell why it is a favourite scale material. Feel, grip and stability under pressure is so much better than the original glassfiber or (what it was). The blade is sharper than a very sharp thing to misquote Blackadder The Spydiechef I was surprised by how ergometric it is. It looked so angular on the pictures but the good people of Taichung have shamfered and rounded every place on it so I do not anticipate hotspots. Also on the spine of the blade it feels rounded tho it does not look it. It is good to hold and snuggles in to my hand Some have said they wanted a more stonewashed finish on the blade. I disagree. The stainless steel aesthetics benefit from the more mashine finished look. It is a look however. It feels smooth with no ridges, so it is not as mashine finished as all that. Again comes nailbiting sharp. Tha titanium scales are darker than pictured and grippier than feared. I love the feel of them better than my other flatsided titanium folder, the GiantMouse Ace Sonoma. The hight of the Spydiechef fits for a better grip in my giant hands and it is somehow grippier. But unlike it does not have a overtravel stop. And here we come to the weakness of this knife. The lockbar. Aside from the missing overtravel stop (one can guess that this is for cleanliness when you are to clean the debrie from yesterdays food prep from it), it is locksticky-ish and it locks up at 2/3 the way over. This also is titanium on steel. So who knows how far over and how locksticky it will get. The lockbar is also considerably slimmer and thinner than the same on the Sonoma. On the other hand that leaves your fingers a way to be comfortably placed on the scales without leaving them on the lockbar, so when you flick it open with your thumb on the spydiehole, the blade literally fly out without the Sonoma deathgrip. Also comfortable to hold and handle. I was afraid it was going to be a two handed opener. Less so on the spydieflick method with the ringfinger, but I was never any good on this method. With the heavy lockup you can still close it one handed, but is an awkward thing that tend to nick my nail. Centering is close but no cigar as it is ever so slightly over to the side. But it leans towards the lockbar so this might work itself out over time Over all i am quite happy with my purchases. Ordered a few Kershaw Concierges to give as gifts to some friends that don't EDC knives. I've always been fond of Kershaw flippers, and the wood scales on these seem a bit more traditional for office carry and casual use.
Looking at two Cold Steel models: Bush Ranger, and SR1. I like big, burly steel! Either one would fill-the-bill, but its always a choice.
Recently, I added some knife take-down tools. Picked-up this stubby Ares 1/4" ratchet with a bifurcated head. One side is a standard 1/4" drive, and the flip is a 1/4" bit-driver. This is a solid unit, and priced right. Works in tandem with a 1/4" bit-extender, and a Malco ratchet-driver. Quality bits are a must: Wera and Felo are excellent euro-brands.

I will order this knife, just waiting to see that next month's special is. I have their rubber handle knife that is same size as Morakniv Garberg and Gerber prodigy. Now I want a more traditional handle material.
