On the way, Blackhawk CQD Mark II. Not normally my kind of knife, but for such a good deal on it I couldn't pass it by.

Yes 4" or better and thick blade stock .. 190" or better and dark acid wash. Dave has some aggressive textures to his styles I like. My hands are very calloused from the work I do so sharp aggressive textures feel more secure to me.

Oh My God! You steel from the poor inventor's of the RUT. How dare you?

Enjoy it, I hope it's not as flimsy as it's looking, esp. when using it for prying ;)

Not so much the rights of the makers that was a concern, as the quality of the product. I have heard tell of one of these splitting open and 'releasing' the back of the blade into the users hand when using it.

Yeah, I was reading about that, too, that's why I mentioned prying.

But still, you're supporting bad bad thieves
I just got the $3 copy of the HangKey and even though I'd like to be able to afford the $40 original because it's machined and polished much nicer it will be a nice modding project.
    First try, heat anodizing ;)

Never heard of the Rexford RUT until it was mentioned above. What a beauty little blade knife with a price point beyond what I can justify. Having said that the titanium version is now on my wish list.

The box cutter I just ordered, via evilBay, was only a couple of dollars. It will replace my Irwin blade which I use at the moment with no surround, i.e. naked. I got the box cutter to slice heat shrinking tube to length and also duct tape.

Good god man! :frantic: You have been using utility blades 'raw'? A knockoff is certainly infinitely better than nothing. You might however have a look at the Gerber EAB for instance

Not raw on the fingers but in a very small vice upside down. My blades are hooked (see image below) and it works like a seat belt cutter. I then hold each end of the heat tube and run it across the blade for a fine cut. Works also with string.

EDIT TO ADD: Irwin also make a good folding utility blade knife.

I think instead of that raw blade you need a real handmade tool with a stainless Olfa blade.

    Also good for packages etc...
