The Stockman is my favorite slipjoint pattern. Not just because it has three blades, but because it has 3 different blades. A clip point for piercing and general use, a sheepsfoot for rough work and razor cuts, and a spey blade for those times where you want to avoid unintentional piercing.

In particular, the sheepsfoot is amazingly useful.

A few years ago, I found a rusty Old-Timer stockman in a desk drawer and started carrying it around as a beater. Once I figured out that the sheepsfoot gave me new cutting abilities, that crappy Old-Timer became my favorite pocketknife. I lost that knife a few years ago, but since then I have always carried a stockman as part of my EDC gear.

I used to be one of those guys that always focused on the tactical-type gear, but as a result of this experience, I really started looking at old-fashioned "grandpa gear" in a new light.

I had my Salt 1 on me this morning for my workout/run. Then I carried my Sage 1 while out doing errands. My Villain arrived in the mail so now it's my black PM2 for the rest of the day and night... Probably the rest of the week too!

Bayvillageidiot (wrong name for you; your knife choice belies your claim of idiot) that is a beautiful knife. Good stuff; functional, simple, well designed and practical. Congratulations on a great pick.
