Just got this in today. I'm already seeing this as a daily carry for me.
Added a lanyard. Don't think I like it. Probably be different tomorrow...
That sucks. Could it be that particular knife? I have a Swale too and I love it. The lock was tight when I first got it but it's been pretty smooth now that I use it everyday.
The usual Imperial, Case and SOG with this Primble Barlow down in RFP as the only change:
Wenger S557 today - good to pinch people by the nose
Just put the Wenger in my pocket..
I should make a photo of my Victorinox Farmer Alox which I carry these days.
Why not? What's there not to like?
I am asking because I really like the looks of this knife, but I have never handled one.
Small pocket fixed blade called the Kentucky Fieldmate.
and of course a folder.....Manix 2 XL
Spyderco: FFG ZDP Delica, UKPK 2013, Yojimbo 2
So here it is the Gerger EAB Lite.
Could you make a little focus on the blade system ? and change ?
The Exskelibur II is a $30 knife made in China, and I think the cheap manufacturing led to a lot of fit and finish shortcuts. The blade was extremely dull out of the box, with some irregularities in the blade edge that took some work to smooth out. The edges of the non-blade metal parts (the lock, for example) felt unfinished. The part of the lock you press with your thumb was very sharp, to the point that I actually had to file it down slightly to take the edge off.
Overall the knife just feels a little weak, too lightweight. I also wish there were some steel reinforcement on the non-lock side of the handle. The lock side has steal throughout, but the other side is just G10. No metal in that part of the handle other than the washer between the blade and the G10.
It's not a bad knife, and for the price it's a good buy. And there are a lot of things I really like about the knife. The OHO function using the blade jimping is cool. And the look and color of the knife is awesome, with the blue anodized clip and liner, and the red fiber. I just think it could have been so much better, and I gladly would pay 3x what I paid for the same knife with a little more weight to it, better blade steel, and a proper fit and finish.
Could be. Might see if I can swap it for a different one with a better lockup and tight thumb studs. The lock itself may just need to be broken in.
