Got this in the mail today, so I'm wearing it on my belt around the house. It will be my new woods knife. It will probably get some kitchen time too. It is the MUK, by Blind Horse Knives.

i knew i recognized the design. I have one of their smaller knives. If i didn't work in an office i'd probably EDC it, a belt sheath might not go over as well as something in my pocket. Scandi grind, convex edge, it's like a mini bushcraft knife.

I have that one too, but it has a regular grind on it instead of the scandi grind. They are like mini bushcraft knives. I EDC that one a lot. Belt knives are not uncommon here, so its not a big deal. I really like BHKs. I forsee more of them in my future.

Benchmade Barrage 580. Nice folder, good balance, a snap to open, light but a pretty strong knife. No flex in the blade.

I live in a bad area of town (for the most part, it's right on the cusp of everything) and I think if I went out like that I would find more trouble then if I went without it. If I had the intention of pulling a knife on someone I wouldn't want them to know that I had it either.

What functions does a kabar provide that large concealable folders/smaller fixed blades do not?

I am honestly at a loss for words.

It's just silly to wear gear like that in public. It's what gives NKP's ammunition to lobby against our knife rights. Not to mention it removes all element of surprise if you need to defend yourself. Element of surprise is the way to win.

You've all managed to daftly infer something which didn't happen, & it's personally/moderative annoying me. I was helping a friend clean/clear his remote mountain property, so no one excepting my friend ever saw me (BTW he liked it, & the SF M3LT). I think radical environmentalist are more likely to care about my activities amongst the tree's then NKP's...

When you give things without context on a public forum, expect people to make snap judgements. I still stand by every word I said, I do believe that you call more attention upon yourself than is necessary. It's been said in the past, and it's been a large issue as well, so please, don't act innocent or coy.

If you get so annoyed, do we worry about suspensions of our accounts or our threads being deleted? Censorship? Just curious, otherwise I don't see a point in being part of a public forum where I can't voice my opinion without fear of it being squelched.

No worries on the first parts, & yes you may voice thoughts/opinions within EDCf rules (IMO you made a good point about concealed carry). I just dislike the speed at which people make "snap judgements" without asking questions/investigating... A question about the carry situation surrounding the Kabar's use would have been a good companion thought, but hindsight is 20/20.

My my, how big is that folder?

While agree with you about people deciding things too quickly, this is an everyday carry forum (or every day, whichever), so if you're rocking a huge MOLLE dropleg assembly with a full size Ka-Bar on it, it wouldn't hurt to clairify that you have some pretty specific tasks to do on that particular day.
