Thanks for 'tagging me in' Brt!

Yes, I use an H1 tasman every day in Fl. I live on a barrier island. Lots of salt, saltwater, water, sweat and grime in this knife.

In fact, the first one I bought was left in a yard, for almost 2 months. I was sure it was gone and buried. My client returned it to me after much rain, salt breeze, and many days.

I ran some soap and water over it with an old toothbrush to clean it. Not one single spot of rust on the blade.

It passed my test... H1 is virtually rust proof. I don't clean it often, and it gets sweaty and dirty, sulphur-water soaked almost every day.

I really like Spydie's H1 steel. I have 2x Tasman's full serrated, and a 'Saver' fully serrated. Great yard knives, great for cutting fibrous materials.

Also, I've used the Tasman 'harder' than I should (I consider Spydies 'medium duty' knives) and it holds up really well. I've sawed metal cables and used it to dig up roots around sprinklers etc.

Can't say enough good things about this knife. It isn't an 'edc' knife - for me, even though I carry it every work day, it is a 'work' knife, because it won't skin an apple or slice a sandwich very well. It is great at awkward/pull/rip cuts, and for getting in tight spaces to cut.

If you're worried about rust, this is the knife/steel material I prefer. I also carry a DFK backpacker, that's Ti with a carbide edge, but it is my 'backup' knife and gets more carry than actual use.

On another note - I've had a SAK Alox farmer in my sock for work for the past few months and it has held up very well. No rust - it gets a soap/water/toothbrush bath and oil about every weekend.

Any more information, I'd be glad to assist. Just tag me! (Work is picking up, I may miss regular alerts/threads I normally visit)

It should hold up to any brine or salt conditions. Both of mine have been tested thoroughly 'in the elements' of a barrier island, and I'd buy another H1 blade in a heartbeat.

In fact, I want a non serrated hawkbill like yours, but can't justify the funds currently.:uhhuh:

The ZT 0566 has been detrhoned, for now at least. Very happy with this ZT 0350! Love the 'THUNK' of it locking into place, one thing I liked better about my RAT over the 0566.
