How do you like that Native 5? I’m contemplating one in S110V steel. Already have a number of Manix 2s and PM2s so wondering if this one would be redundant

If you have a Manix LW then I’d say it would probably be redundant. The main things this knife has going for it (light weight/leaf blade/finger choil) are shared with the Manix. The Manix also has a much more ergonomic locking mechanism in my opinion. Still, the Native 5 disappears in my pocket and hasn’t let me down yet. Besides, if you already have multiple Manix 2’s and PM2’s I wouldn’t let redundancy stop you from picking one of these up ;)

I have one in Maxamet. To be honest, it stays in the drawer. It's an amazing knife for its size, cuts like a dream, feels great in the hand., has reassuring heft and the blade is stout. But I have a Military in S110V or P4/K390 in my pocket all the time. I just don't carry small knives.

Now that you guys reminded me, I'll make a point (pun intended) to use it the next time I chop up a bunch of boxes to see how it does.

Anyway, get one. I have a PM2 and hate it, I love the Native 5 and I didn't think I would. I'd like to hold a Manix 2 and see how they feel but again I'm kinda "done" since the Military is my fave and the P4 is more or less similar. But I don't like backlocks and prefer liner locks. So for me the Military is the one knife I'd choose if I could have only one.

S110V is a nice all around steel. No problems with corrosion or sharpening and the edge retention is very good. I have Militarys in other steels but the S110V is my daily carry for the past years.

Thanks, good feedback. I carry my PM2s and Manix 2s on a belt sheath. Looking for a smaller knife for the front pocket. I’m in between the Native 5 or Para 3 in S110v at the moment. I’m leaning more towards the Para 3 in Blurple just because I love the blurple scales. Call me weird. If I could find the Native 5 in blurple, that would settle it for me. Very hard to find though

Thanks, appreciate your take on the Native 5. I want something that will disappear in my pocket as well

It has a clip and rides tip up (which I don't like) so you could definitely clip it in a front pocket. I don't imagine it would open, but for me tip up in a front pocket is just not something I'm going to do.

Anyway, there are some amazing guys on the Spyderco forums who have used RIT dye to change the colors of the scales. So, you could always buy whatever knife you like and try a dye-job.

Had never seen this brand before....looks like pretty good bang for the buck EDC you can actually use without guilt. THX for sharing.
