Spyderco Smock I just got this knife recently. It’s a strange spyderco but I’m really enjoying it. I know that centering isn’t a big deal if it’s not rubbing or causing any use issues but it was a little off to one side when I opened the box. Turns out it just needed to be loosened a bit. There is a very small margin of being loose enough for the pivot to wiggle and the blade to be centered but I finally got it there. I don’t know why but I have a hard time not obsessing over the centering when I first get a new knife. Again I know logically it doesn’t matter but I struggle with it. You know what Mick Strider allegedly once said “If it turns out that the knife functions better when the blade is not perfectly centered … then we don’t make it perfectly centered. Centered doesn’t mean good. Good means good. If the person that gets the knife isn’t happy with how the blade centering looks, they can send it in and we’ll make them happy. A lier and thief and outright fraud like Micky Ray Burger should not even be quoted. The man is a total sham. An ex-con served 5 years for auto theft, never got beyond E1 rank before the was tossed out, and re-invented himself as an 'operator' with experience in warfare. The only knife he was used to was the prison shank he kept to keep from being buggered in the shower.
What on earth has his criminal record got to do with knife centering? And him having a past and not owning up to it at first is old news. You are not earning brownie points by "outing" him here. I like him as a knife designer. So I am going to listen to him about centering. Anything coming from this cheap imitator of a soldier isn't worth spit. If you understand the whole Mick Burger farce, you wouldn't be saying that. Unless you don't believe in stolen valor? Because everything Burger stands for is built on lies and scam. He is an affront to every combat veteran in all the armed services. Strider Knives was built on a fantasy of a looser that never got beyond boot camp. If you don't understand that, then theres no point trying to enlighten you.
I do understand about stolen valor. It is a bad thing. I understand you are mad at him. I am mad at him for it. Does not disqualify him from having an opinion as a knifemaker however. On centering. I understand that you want him to go away and not have an opinion about anything. This is where we differ. I come here for info about KNIVES. Not to make the opinions of those that have a sordid past I am already aware of not be valid because of this past. You are making drama in a discussion about knife centering. Check yourself!
