Yeah, I love Isham's designs! I haven't purchased any yet, as I insist on using what I buy and not all of his designs lend itself to that. I almost bought the Damascus Minitherium a couple of weeks ago, but I couldn't imagine myself carrying it. That said, I've been so tempted by his stuff the past couple of years.

I think the carbon Abstruse will be my first Isham design.

I agree for the most part about frame locks. But while frame locks are stronger, I have yet to have a liner lock fail or even threaten to fail so far.

These recent two I have Abstruse, and the Civivi are both ergonomically pretty decent, the Abstruse is 4 fingers slightly bunched 3 fingers is very comfortable even though I wear 2XL gloves its a smallish knife with very close to the same cutting edge of the PM2, should make a decent carry blade.

I don't mind liner locks, plenty strong enough, just frame lock is easier for me being left handed, right side carry clips have never bothered me.

Thanks for your insight on your 2 models, it's always good to hear from someone that owns it.

I think at this point, I own more frame locks than anything else. Mostly due to all of the knives that interest me have been frame locks. That said, I hate the scale relief cut out that many manufacturers are using in their designs. Makes for many hot spots IMHO. I wish they would all cut the relief on the inside of the scale! Sorry for the rant...

He sure does! I have the Theta - which unfortunately is not one of the greater flippers around but in all other respects I love. I've been contemplating getting a Minitherium as well... I'm not a real big fan of front flippers.

I don't recognize the two you show in your posting. What are their 'names'?

I should have tried to cut both stalks with one chop. They were close enough together.

Thanks! Yup, I went on BHQ and I can see the Civvi Plethiros as well as another lower cost ISHAM design via Civvi. Not so sure about the D2. I have one D2 blade; I've not seen any incipient corrosion but I am starting to see more and more comments regarding this for Chinese D2 blades from a variety of makers, suggesting that the Chinese D2 may be a slightly different alloy recipe than US D2... I also saw the Isham Darkstar at BHQ listed under his own name, which I didn't realize was happening...!

Yes, the Spyderco Ikuchi does look like a wicked sharp little bastard! ;)

    That's a great picture! I need to pick-up a bull-barreled .22 auto like that Ruger.

The Shirogorov NeOn just arrived yesterday, but I foresee it being a mainstay in my edc because of how nice it feels.
