Noice. Had one with a brass handle, ordered from Japan. Sadly it was really bad. Blade was scraping inside the handle when closing, ground uneven, open and closing was between very stiff and very loose, depending on the position, handle was crooked. Guess I got the lemon for the gaijin. Sent from my Glade Air Freshener

I don't think so. I have such a Higonokami, too. It's made in a simple way, you could call it primitive which is ok for the price considering it's coming from a developed country. Many people even like that rough charm and refer to it as wabi sabi. I'm non of them so I resharpened it, slightly peened the pivot and bent the cage for a more even opening/closing. It's no hi-tech but it's working. If you want a good knife made this way better get a Mercator K55 or the like. The blade on mine was darn sharp though yet it's very brittle. When it hit the inside of the brass handle the edge chipped so i decided to add a stop pin (my first knife mod ever). For me it's a curiosity item but I wouldn't buy another one. This one has cought my attention though, something like a Mercator with an ergonomic and pretty handle and a Klecker-lock:
Well, if you don’t think so, fine. But it was not even close to what your pictures show. Rough charm is one thing, defects are different Sent from my Glade Air Freshener
Then maybe you just really picked a lemon but mine looked like this after sharpening (single edge, like a scandi). Before it was much rougher. As I said, one is enough for me even though I'd like to add some imprints from Yen coins to the selfmade folding pouch. Maybe when I'm less busy with other projects It was the easiest mod I've ever tried. Get yourself a nail or pin and drill a hole into the handle with roughly the same diameter. We have 1.4mm nails on job but I'm not sure if I used a 1.2 or 1.5mm drill bit. Brass is soft, so you can hammer in the nail. Slightly peen one end while the rest of the nail is clamped in, hammer in the nail till it fits. Clip the nail close to the handle, lay the knife onto a steel surface, peen the other end, sand and polish to your liking. You should maybe copy the dimensions of the blade onto a piece of paper to see where is the place for the pin. I used a non stainless and non hardened pin but the blade is also not stainless and it's not a flicking knife so it's good this way. I just don't get it why 100 years were not enough for the original maker to improve the knife. Even french slipjoints come with a stop pin these days.
That is an awesome cover for your Higo! Kind of solves the issue with handle ergos IMO. I also have a Higonokami, but mine has a Sakura(cherry) wood handle. It was more expensive than the metal handled ones I've seen, but the build quality looks to be better. I can post a pic if interested and once I get home. Sent from my Samsung Galaxy S10+
This is a knifepron page, of course I want to see it. I have another friction folder made by LionSteel with wood handles and I learned that knives even without a backspring or any kind of detent system is not for me except as a collector's piece. The Higo sheath idea was not mine, I still enjoyed copying it https://www.edcforums.com/threads/show-us-your-knife-mods.109204/page-126#post-2561868 https://www.dictum.com/en/folding-knives-fbb/higonokami-burasu-incl-folding-leather-sheath-719073 But of course my sheath is mold so it "clacks" at the pivot when it moves in position
That is a REALLY slick looking knife! Do tell: manufacturer/model/details of materials, blade material, blade length....! Thanks! L'chaim! Moshe ben David

Correct, I may still get it in CF, but kinda prefer frame lock over liner lock BHQ link for specs. https://www.bladehq.com/item--Isham-Bladeworks-Abstruse-Front--97549 Here is another Isham design, more budget friendly which I got a few days ago He has a certain style about his designs
