'Old School' heavyweight: SERE folder. Definitely it's a 'Fistful of Steel'. Anybody else on the forum into Al Mar?
Oh yeah! I have that one large and small and the G10 models large and small. Well built knives! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Your right, CV. The 'collectibility factor' on these blades has gone-up dramatically over the years. Like you, I purchased the brand for the 'quality aspect'.
I have always admired them but have never purchased one. Due to the lack of knife stores I have also never been able to handle one either. Perhaps I should remedy that. Beautiful knife sir! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Some of their lean shapes look great. But they missed the train on blade steel. So that’s a pass for me. Sent from my Glade Air Freshener
I like the looks of many of the Al Mar knives; especially for me the more 'gentlemen types'. Just haven't pulled a trigger yet. Need to rebuild the financial reserves... L'chaim! Moshe ben David
Beautiful collection, CV! Love the bottom blade with the classic red cartouche. The 'green micarta' is beautiful, and sold-me back-then. Some examples have the 'Special Forces' crest, and I wish; that I would have scarfed-one up! When Al Mar's were first-made; there were no 'exotic super-steels' like M390, Sleipner, or S35VN. The top steel was AUS-8, which was then cutting-edge so-to-speak. In recent times, the line was culled way-down after Al's untimely passing. Good stuff, friend! Thumbs-up for Al Mar.
