    [IMG] Hello! New to the board. Been following a while and this is my first post. Happy to be here.

    Spyderco manix 2 xl is in my back pocket for the day.

    For some reason the image won't post.

    Man, I've wanted a Strider for a long time, and given that Strider knives is no longer a thing, the used market went nuts. So looking at the used prices of production striders, it just made sense to fumble my way into this Dwyer SMG. CPM3V blade, G10 non-lock side. It's a looker right now, but it'll be well used shortly.

    Given tomorrow is Wednesday, I figured I'd change the blade rotation in my pockets now...

    • LF pocket, on dangler: LM Squirt PS4
    • belt sheath at 9 o'clock: LM Blast
    • Coin pocket: Spyderco Ladybug Salt; H1 steel with SE grind; 1 7/8"; yellow FRN handle; back lock
    • RF pocket in a leather slip: Buck 301C medium stockman with Rosewood 'dymondwood' scales; this is one of the still USA made stockman knives from Buck;
      • clip point: ~2 3/4" not sure whether to call it a hollow grind or a saber grind
      • sheep's foot ~ 2"
      • spey ~ 2"
        • the grind on both the spey and the sheep's foot is similar to the grind on the primary
        • steel is 420 HC

    L'chaim!

    How do you like the maxamet steel? I've been thinking about ordering one but I heard it's real brittle to sharpen

    I like it a lot. It's my first knife with "super steel" and so far it has been easy to touch up with my strop and sharpmaker. The first time on the sharpmaker I did have some microchipping from using too much pressure, but all is good now after more passes with a lighter touch. I was afraid at first that it would be a lot of work to sharpen, but I'd say it's fairly easy because it's still the sharpest knife I own after touching it up. I still don't know about its overall toughness yet though, but I have cut my food with it on a ceramic plate without any damage to the edge.
