How do you like the Bear and Son? I see them on line; BladeHQ in particular. But I also seem to recall seeing a lot of not so positive user reviews so I've not pulled the trigger on any. Rough Rider even seem to get more positive reviews.

Starting a new week; including one of my earliest acquired knives:

    > RF pocket, on dangler: LM Squirt PS4
    > belt sheath at 9 o'clock: LM Blast
    > Coin pocket: Spyderco Manbug Salt Rescue, H1 steel, blunt tip, SE
    > LF pocket: Kershaw 1550 Blackout; one of my first knife acquisitions. 3.25" drop point blade; Speedsafe of course; DLC blade. This knife was produced pre-2007 when they were still using 440A steel -- later went through two changes to Sandvik. Last version used 14C28N. Kershaw was still producing the Blackout in 2017, but the latest website does not show it. Guess they finally retired it! Too bad. Really a comfortable and dependable edc blade!

Function wise they're alright, but some might find the rough unfinished look to some of the parts not to their liking. The couple that I've owned are certainly not comparable to Queen or Case in fit and finish, but I looked for and found 'bargains' on the popular auction site instead of paying retail, so I'm satisfied with what I got for a Made in USA knife, even compared with the nicer looking Rough Riders that I have, lol..

If you do decide to get one, make sure there are plenty of photos from all angles so that you know what you're getting, and hopefully you get one with good walk and talk and snap, and not a nail breaker, which can be a risk with slipjoints purchased online without being able to handle them first. ;)

Good points. I've had zero problems with both Case and Rough Rider. I've got one Boker Barlow that's kind of stiff but useable. On the other hand, at various times I've bought Imperial, Schrade, and a couple of others that Taylor has made for them. Each was so stiff that I returned it. So basically I stick with Case and Rough Rider. I'd be more than happy to give Queen a go, but so far I didn't see any that I was willing to pay the price for. Same comments apply to some of the 'newer' (at least to me) makers such as Northwoods, Tidicoute, etc. Nor have I seen any Camillus that even tempted me so far.
