Three weeks grace period was given to the 0900 before I "had" to put a mirror edge on it...

Yeah, there's a lot of talk about it and I've never had any problems with it, but I'm not sure how great it will work in such a thin blade. The other day a guy reported that a VG-10 kitchen knife has better edge retention than a S35VN kitchen knife. I'll try it out and see, though, eventually.

Good thing the Elmax in my ZT0566BW is good enough.

Lol every time I see a post from you its that you "don't need that" or "what I have is good enough".

I'm not planning on batoning logs with it so I'm not gonna sweat it. I have a Spyderco Native w/ S35VN and it rocks. Arguably overkill for the linerless scales it wears. Lots of opinions on steels, but I have yet to have any knife I own fail because of its steel. As long as I'm using the right tool for the right job and all that... All is well.

Funny you mention that. I was reading an article about it last night. (Because of this thread.)

    "Elmax

European Bohler-Uddeholm introduced Elmax which is a high chromium-vanadium-molybdenum alloyed powdered steel with extremely high wear and corrosion resistance. Elmax is stainless but acts in many ways like a carbon steel. You get superb edge holding and relatively easy sharpening while maintaining a healthy resistance to rust. The ‘best all round’ knife steel? Perhaps. What’s great to see is that Bohler sure is giving Crucible a run for their money these days."

I think you're right. I have the G-10 Native and the Moonglow one. I just want to squeeze the most performance I can out of what I carry.
