Same large Stockman for the last few days. Just potatoe'd it last night. I like the end result. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
The PITS sadly isn't to be seen very often. How do you like it? Gesendet von meinem ONEPLUS A3003 mit Tapatalk
The PITS is a great knive and I really like it. I (pre-) ordered it form knifecenter in August 2014 and I'm pretty sure that I was one of the first owners of the PITS in Europe I like the quality of the knife and the legal aspect regarding the public-carry-situation in Germany. This is a very well constructed knife, from a custom to a production folder. Mike Read did a lot of explanation on a British forum, why things are the way they are, for exampel the blade shape. It is the safest slip joint knife I own and I trust this thing more than some locking folders. And what is very important for me: it cuts like a laser! Sharpening or just touching it up is no problem and the cutting abilities are superb! It is an expensive knife but on the other hand probably the best one handed opening non locking modern folder on the market. I gave it as a special present to myself and never regretted it. The only thing I would change is the titanium finish. I don't like the satin finish, because the scales get scratches from just looking at it. One the other hand, it builds up "character" fast. But in general I don't like this finish, so this has nothing to do with the PITS. I just like the finish of the Military and the Mantra much more: To sum things up: The PITS is an awesome knife and everybody should own one!
Good so we basically have the same opinion the only concern I have are that the edges are pretty rough from the factory(but that's easily remedied) Have you thought about anodizing it? Still thinking about doing it Gesendet von meinem ONEPLUS A3003 mit Tapatalk
Nice knife, just way out of my budget. Anyways, if you don't like the satin finish, get yourself a plastic jar, throw in some round pebbles (the ones at playgrounds are perfect) and then tumble the scales. If you anodize it before it could look nice, too Of course it's no bead blasting but that will scratch up anyways.
I was more thinking about bead blasting it. From what I heard, the new anodized version was not a big improvement. But for now, I will probably leave it as it is.
I could throw in the blade as well but I believe it somehow affects the cutting abilities: But it think, I will leave it the way it is for now. By the way, I really like the pics of your work you share with us here! And regarding the budget, when ordering from the States, there are some good deals, especially regarding the satin version.

I never had any isues with stonewashed blades, I just don't like it when they are etched too dark. When you cut an apple with that you'll get black stains on the apple so I more like a light etching and then the stones to get an icey effect. Still thinking about doing that to my Caly 3's laminated blade but I'm kinda busy now, so not sure when it's gonna happen. And about budget, well, with 2 little kids and one income I'll wat a bit for smth like a PITS, but I could be tempted by a $60 AliExpress version (booh, I know ).
Spent last week sailing, which means Wave on belt and Pioneer in pocket. Leaving for Denmark tomorrow, which means the only bladed tool on person will be the tiny Leatherman Style Plus.
