My favorite bone handled Imperial equal end. My most likely weekend knife by a LARGE margin.

Size for one, the amount of force it took to get the blade open, and we did try adjusting it. It's not an issue for me but it does pose a problem for her. We could also never get the blade centered and the screws stripped while trying to change the clip.

Not that I want to smart :censored: here, but maybe some humble hints for when she changes. Instead of an assisted opener (which I think the Ember is) try a regular flipper or auto. Assisted openers (especially Kai's Hinderer models) need some good pressure to deploy. When a screw on a knife does not want to move, it's most likely due to Loctite. Usually I use a bowl of boiling hot water and dip the part with the screws in, until it's hot. Softens the Loctite and you can unscrew the piece (happened with several pocket clips and some pivot screws already). Just make sure to put a little oil (I use Balistol which is a gun oil) on the moving parts afterwards. And maybe she wants to aim for something lighter. My wife has to handle all of my knives when I get them (yeah I know I am a horrible husband). For her, the Kizer Gemini is the easiest to deploy and she liked the weight and size. Plus the blade is dead center and the whole thing is a sturdy little f*cker. The only thing she disliked was the price, but that's a different story altogether. Tho if you have a go to knife guy, he might make you an offer you cannot refuse. Mine did.

She already has an assisted opener - the Cryo and has no issues opening it. She has also used a ZT0566 and neither required the force necessary to open the Ember. I have not noted Kershaw to use loctite out of the factory and had no issues with previous Kershaws. The screws stripped with very little force, much less than the point where I would be thinking of getting out my heat gun. The knife has been unimpressive but it was cheap and I'm not too worried.

Sounds like you got some potato there. But yes Kershaw uses Loctite out of the factory. At least on the clip of the Emerson, others I am not sure about anymore.

My little Ember hasn't the problems the one you bought suffers from, but mass production (and QC sampling) makes for many variables, not always good. Sorry you got a lemon, but mine has been great (it is a constant companion at work ~ along with my SAK Executive).

Mini-Barrage (my first Benchmade) has been getting a fair amount of pocket time lately.
