I found the Style CS in the backpack i used on a bicycle event on Saturday.

I don't know if it qualifies as a knife, but it does have a blade. And that is SHARP!

I've had this one for awhile about 4 years. Decided to carry it today, I'm not a fan or recurve blades as you can see I didn't know how to sharpen it over the years and have lost a lot if the recurve.[IMG][IMG]

Well it was the 0350ts but after I just dug some mud out of my shoe and used it to knock some mud loose the lock failed and the knife tried to close. It wasn't much force I was using but I guess the blade it self hit and the lock jarred loose I don't think I'll be carrying this anymore I'll stick to my Spydies and Cold Steels[IMG]

Liner and frame locks are just plain not well designed for actually using hard. I think you've got the right idea sticking to modern/updated back locks for that kind of use.

    Bring on the flames everybody

I've had the knife for 4 years and it's not done this before but I like the Ball bearing lock on my Manix 2 and the compression on my PM2 but I'm not a fan of the Axis lock either the lock doesn't sit very far on the blade and it just is too easy to hit the lock by mistake. I know everyone will say for hard use buy a fixed blade but all I was doing was tapping my sneakers to get some mud out hardly rough use and abuse.

This now. Did the same thing with this and the blade stayed open. [IMG]

The Compression and Ball Bearing locks are great also.

The key difference that makes the Ball Bearing lock favorable to the Axis in my opinion is the fact that it rests on a pin with a spiral spring, rather than only being held in place by a coil ("omega") spring.

All the fancy shmancy one handed locks are nice as long as you use them in a clean environment. IMHO, if you wanna make sure, backlock. Although for me, the lock is just an extra. Used to work with slip joints (mainly SAKs), there you only rely on the way of working (I guess).

I use my knives in dusty crawls and attics get mud allover them insulation and whatever else comes my way, never had any problems except my PM2 is sticky opening and unlocking. I've tried the slip joint thing for the last 2 weeks between a SAK and a Boker tech tool and being I wear clothes doing sheet metal and almost everything else it's hard to have a knife that needs two hands to open and close. But everyone has an opinion none are correct and none are wrong so it's whatever the individual prefers.

That said, I prefer one hand opening as well (meanwhile) but I do not completely rely on locks or at least I do not count on them 100 %. Something like the American Lawman is a good middle ground when it's getting rough. One handed opening and the lock very strong and reliable. But of course, all personal preferences and none of them right or true.

I haven't yet given up on frame lock. But my fave before the ZT0566BW was a SOG Twitch XL with back lock. And I dearly love my little Schrade 3OT
