I just took my small sebenza apart today to do a full cleaning. I wiped everything, lubed all necessary parts and re-assembled correctly, but now the action is stiff when opening. Seems to be the lock bar tension, but I can't figure out what changed there. I don't want to have to send it back but I've disassembled and reassembled 3 times already and no difference. Pretty irritating
I had this happen to me once, and I never figured out what I did wrong but after re-assembling it the third time everything clicked and it was perfect again.
Weird. I figured re-doing the whole process again will maybe fix whatever happened but nothing. I guess I could try a few more times. I first though it was the washers but if I push the lock bar out of the way and move the blade its all smooth which leads me to believe its the ceramic ball and the track on the tang but nothing changed! Hopefully I'll have the same luck you did my next time around..
Have you ever seen the video on YouTube "Chris Reeve Shop Tour Part 2?" If you go to 5:01 you can see how it is put together. Bscislly you can tighten all the screws but the pivot screw, push the blade in and angle the knife like an L shape, install the pivot screw, deploy the blade all the way open then tighten the screw. Southpaw Thanks bud, I just checked it out. That's pretty much exactly how I did it. Hopefully it will just work it's way back to normal. I'll fiddle around with it tonight and tomorrow and maybe do it all over again and see what happens.
If it feels like the detent ball is scratching over the blade you could also try to "mark" the detent track with a soft pencil. The graphite should help to make it smooth again.
You can always send it here. I'll either get it fixed ave returned or I'll deal with my new knife being just a bit stiff.
