I've put about 300-400 rds through it and it's been great! As expected from a .22, recoil is next to nothing; you really can shoot this thing all day long without the gun wearing you down. It's also pretty easy to fire rapidly and stay on target. I've shot the LCR in .38 Special, and while the recoil wasn't bad, it wasn't something you want to plink with for hours and hours. I imagine the .357 might be a bit of a beast, but I haven't shot it, yet. It is a very lightweight gun, after all. The grip (the standard Hogue grip that comes with it) feels great and is more substantial than the S&W I was contemplating without being overly chunky. The trigger is long and seems to have a medium weight to it. It's very smooth -- much smoother, in fact, than my Dad's S&W Airweight. The only downside is that you have to let it all the way out before it will reset, but it's certainly not a deal-killer. The standard front blade sight is pretty small and hard to see, IMO. The salesperson told me this was a "belly gun", which I guess means you just pull it out around waist level and push it towards a bad guy's midsection at close (probably point-blank) range without really aiming. That's now how I roll, so I opted to upgrade to the XS Standard Dot tritium night sight. Big improvement! You can get the LCR with the XS sight already mounted, but I think only in .38 or .357. I bought my sight on Amazon and installed it in about 20 minutes with no issues. There may be more affordable .22 wheelguns out there (Rossi, etc.), but the Ruger is pretty nice. I think you'll be pretty happy with it.
I have handled the LC9 in the shop. It is indeed very nice feeling and THIN! I have a SR9C though, and didn't really want another 9mm. The LCP is not the worst thing in the world to shoot (high praise!), and I've gotten proficient enough with it to feel sufficiently armed - especially with some nice JHP rounds.
Usually a Glock 26. But on known "bad" days a SIG P229 and the 26. Really light days a S&W 442 or when pocket carry is needed.
you ever tried the 45 caliber of the XD? I am looking at the 9mm or the 45 from Springfield. Second choice is a Beretta 40 cal (my bro in law is a retired Staff Sargeant, he has his Army Issued. I love that one too)
Just bought a S&W M&P Shield 9mm. I really really like it for the summer time. When it's cold and I'm wearing a sweat shirt or jacket most of the time it's a S&W M&P9. Used to be Glocks, but I just shoot the M&P faster and better than the Glocks so they win.
Sitting in my EDC bag next to me right now is a stock Kahr PM40 in stainless. It's my "lightweight" carry that I've been favoring to keep my weight down since my edc has expanded. Otherwise, if I don't care about weight, or it's wintertime, I carry a Glock 20 with some after market upgrades. It started as my backpacking carry for bears and catamounts, and ended up just being my regular carry for two-legged threats because I'm confident that it'll stop anything, and the gun is inherently more accurate than I am.
Omg. I'm jealous of ur H&K. I usually carry my 1911-officers w/Wilson mags or my (hack um ckummm- hadda clear me throat) my Glock 19 ;-/ but I truely will never part ways with my 1911. (Oh sometimes my XD .40 svc but rarely) Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I727 using Tapatalk 2
Glock 19 Gen 4. Trijicon night sights. 3.5 sherer connector. I usually carry it in a kydex holster I made myself.
I love the size of the (hack um ckummm) Glock 19 all except the thickness. My hands do better with a single stack. If only they made a single stack or staggered stack G19. I would buy in a heartbeat.
Best compromise is a Kahr K9 or P9. S&W Shield is also a good alternative to a glock 19 for a single stack gun.
