Glock 23 with CT laser sights and SW380 Bodyguard as a backup. Want to get the Kahr PM40 to replace the Smith so all ammo is the same caliber.
I cc a Kahr P9 IWB with extra mag in the summer and a Springfield Armory Milspec 1911 .45 with extra mag in the winter. The Kahr virtually disappears with any garment due to the thin profile of the weapon.. And I carry the .45 in the winter while clothing allows for it here in AZ. Why a .45, because that large flying ashtray of a bullet just seems to work!
Para Ordnance P14 LDA .45 w/ hogues, so smooth, love to shoot it Smith and Wesson Sigma .40 that I've had for about 10 years now and has never let me down
I carry a compac PX4 storm and have in the back section on my EDC Maxpedition Malaga a PX4 full size 40 cal which I keep in my vehicle and that bag goes with me if I travel in someone else's vehicle.
The new hotness for carry. Please Sub and pass along the video. Don't forget to watch it in fullscreen 1080p if your PC supports it.
Currently a Ruger LCP... Once it gets cooler out, Glock 30SF (both with Hornady Critical Defense ammo).
SIG P220 Compact, Limited Edition: Single-Action-Only, Aluminum Grips [Click picture for larger version.]
I pocket carry and I just switched from a Ruger LCP/Crimson laser to a Two-Tone Sig Sauer P238/Sig Laser. Like the Sig Sauer, the LCP's fit and finish is flawless and conceals very well in my pocket. I just couldn't get comfortable with the Ruger's trigger. The LCP is DAO while the P238 is single action. In addition, the P238 has a separate safety while Ruger engineered a safety into the trigger. As a result, the LCP has, in my opinion, an excessively loooong and uncomfortable trigger-pull. The P238's trigger is only doing one job so it has a simpler and shorter pull.
It's a SIG P220 Compact, but it's a limited edition. The features specific to the limited edition are: 1911-esque beavertail; single-action-only; aluminum grips ($100 value); and no rail. [NOTE: Don't confuse the "Compact" and the "Carry". The former has a 3.9" barrel and a shorter grip while the latter has a 3.9" barrel but the full-size grip.] I've seen one of them at a shop locally for $800, but they are hard to come by. I got mine from CDNN. It's on page 16 of their catalog. Their price—$579—is ridiculously good! I talked to SIG, and they told me that is almost $200 less than COST! (In fact, the SIG rep that I talked to eventually admitted to me that the CDNN price is cheaper than their employee discount and that he had ordered one from CDNN after talking to me; ha ha.) SIG's conclusion was that they had to either be damaged or have been "shelf" guns—the ones that everyone handles in stores. CDNN swore otherwise, claiming they were brand new. Mine has a couple of marks on the frame, and, while they are extremely slight and cover nicely with a Birchwood Casey pen, SIG said it definitely would not have left their doors that way. Since it's a limited edition that is no longer made, they couldn't send me a new pistol, so they sent me 2 free mags—a $100 value. Quite nice of them. As for how it shoots: hands-down the smoothest, funnest pistol I have ever shot. I don't want to step on any 1911-lover's toes (and I'm a 1911 fan), but this thing shoots way better than any 1911 I've ever shot. My dad (who has been an avid shooter for 50 years) brought his Kimber Ultra Carry II to the range with me to compare the two. He was completely blow away by the SIG and much more accurate with it. I couldn't recommend the P220 Compact any more strongly, and for that price, it's worth trusting me. [Or, come down to Louisiana and shoot mine. ] I'm more accurate and feel the kick less with this than either my 9 mm or .357 or .40 S&W. I plan on picking up the full-size version from CDNN (same page of the catalog) as my next purchase, if they still have it by then.
Excellent. Thanks for the details! I find it all very interesting. The P220 looks similar to the P239 just in .45 cal. The SIG P239 (9mm) is among my prospective carry guns for the future. How do you carry your P220? Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
