AndrwTNT Probably a little late to the party, but check out http://www.candlepowerforums.com/vb/showthread.php?126645-Comprehensive-Grease-and-Lube-Thread ALL the info you will EVER need about flashlight lube.
Thanks srvctec, I have actually been through those pages. Just wanted to get a few other opinions here. Great thread though! Tons of info.. almost too much
The first post of that thread is key (the whole thread is a little overwhelming). I use Nyogel 779ZC exclusively on all my lights for the last 10 years or so. Still using the same tube. Edit: Had to go grab my tube to see what the actual Nyogel number was. Added it above
Yeah I gathered most of my info from the OP. That Nyogel stuff sounds great. I just ordered some Krytox 5050 per archimedes advice so we'll see how it works out
Olight S1, really like this little light, great mode design and beam is phenomenal.. The clip is one of the worst and dysfunctional design I have ever seen on a flashlight thou, guess I cant get everything.
New EDC flashlight! Berylium copper eiger! Am I stupid for being really enthused that it has that little peice so I can control how bright it is just by how hard I tighten the head down? Because I love that. And I can't wait to see how it is going to patina since it isn't just regular copper.
I wish I could say, one way, or the other, whether this stuff will work well; but I've never used it; so, I can't speak for its reliability. I know the Nyogel has worked flawlessly for me for all of my lights (and a little goes a very long way); so I always recommend it wholeheartedly, to other flashlight enthusiasts.
david57strat I ended up returning the Super Lube today because I ordered some Krytox 50/50. I'll see how I end up liking it and let you all know here.
How has this light been working for you? Ive had one for about 2 weeks now, i used it once for the complete battery runtime (much shorter than advertised and anticipated), recharged it til the indicator turned green. it sat on the shelf for about 4 days, i went to use it today and all i can get to happen is the rear red light to turn on. the main beam will not do anything. i have tried activating the transport lock and and deactivating it, putting in standard alkaline batteries, charging (indicator turns green as soon as i plug it in). still nothing. Just wondering if youve ever had any issues with your light since youve had it for a while now. Thanks in advance for any replies!!
Because the light is so small, the on/off button is difficult to immediately feel in my hand. So I set the clip exactly opposite the on/off switch on the light's body. That way, when I grab the light I position the clip against my finger tips, effectively forcing the on/off switch exactly under my thumb. For me, that adds significant function to that 'dysfunctional design' you mention.
