How are the knife carry laws in Norway? PS: I meant when compared to strict laws like in Britain or "easy" laws like here in Czech Republic.
The short answer: Frustrating. Norwegian law states that you cannot legally carry any knife on person in a public place without a respectable reason. The law specifically mentions work and outdoor activities as examples of such reasons, but also opens up for other reasons, without specifying exactly which reasons are respectable in any given situation. This pretty much leaves it up to law enforcement personell and judges to interpret the law and decide whether or not your reason is respectable. Personally, I would much prefer something like the British law. Yes, it is strict, but it is also fair, understandable and predictable. For the record: The above photo was taken in my own home, and thus not in a public place.
