...........and I was expectng a few small gadgets: WOW!!!!
Absolutely love your work. How do you finish up your "carvings?" Like your dog, or skulls. I know you mill it down but after that it appears to be difficult.
Nice work & thanks for sharing!
Well Datafabricata you just knocked me out of the park with some of your work. Spectacular really.
EDC Coat/Bag/Gloves/Hat Hanger made from 80/20 that I got for free from a dumpster.
That is fantastic At first I was not that impressed but when I saw it being used; it has the WOW factor without a doubt
My old hydroflask no longer insulates due to unfortunate drops to concrete, so I got a new one along with a flip top lid.
There's no contour for comfortably carrying the bottle, so I made a handle out of steel wire and paracord. To tilt it for drinking, I wrap my thumb over the handle.
80/20 is the adult erector set! Awesome stuff that you can virtually make anything with.
this skull is awesome but should not be easier to carve it fixed to the rod and after cut it ?
Nope. The rod is heavy and you have to turn the bead about a million times to get all the nooks and crannies. I've also heard people suggest using a vise. For me I have to hold it.
80/20 is amazing stuff. AWESOME score on finding some in a dumpster.... one man's trash, is another man's.....
Really appreciate seeing this, as I had recently metioned Mr. Iten's work in another thread.
Not nearly as nice as some of the other pieces here, but functional for me. This is my combo dangler/pry bar, with magnetized key holder.

I wonder what Dafabricatas dayjob is.
THAT IS GENIUS!!
I'm going to guess... accountant.
I would have went with WWE referee
Thanks for the nice words everyone!
This thread is a great idea!
Theres so many telented people here and I love seeing what people make.
When an item isn't readily available or is cost prohibitive, sometimes making your own is your only option. I have a friend at CPF who made his own version of a Tri-V. He used an 18650 host and put an aspheric lense, a reflector and a bare flood LED in the head. It looked like a regular flashlight but, gave him the usefulness of the 3 beams that the Tri-V has at his budget...and he got the satisfaction of making it himself.
DemskeetSkeet, when shaping objects such as the dog & skulls, after the general shape is roughed out, I break out the hand files. The dremil really only gets used to reach those spots where a file won't. They pretty much just take a lot of time since it's something that has to look proportionately correct. I will try to leave at least one squared surface until the end where it can be placed in a vise to more easily work on. I also make my own chisles to add more detail, such as the spaces defining the teeth. When hand shaping, the difficulty comes with propper symmetry, correct proportions...and time.
With regards to the 80/20...Great stuff! I hope to eventually get more since our local scrap yard gets some in at times. I LOVE shopping at the scrapyard! That's what I did for my birthday last year! LOL!
indigo wolf, you are absolutely correct about the trash/treasure situation! I can't even tell you the percentage of things I own that were once "garbage". I had seen your post in that thread and had a nice long reply wrote, but lost it due to my crappy internet giving out when trying to reply.
Mr. Itens design works great and I look forward to refining my buckle and eventually making a few others of my own design. I can't afford his work, but it inspired me enough to make my own.
Anastasius, I could tell you but then I'd have to....
Keep the pics coming!! Nice work everyone!!
Secret Service, I knew it!
Thukydides, There's no way in a million years, that I'd work for that POS!...I don't care what it pays! He doesn't feel my life is important enough for me to be able to protect myself, and seems to enjoy trampling all over our freedoms and rights. Let him fend for himself along with all the other crooked polititians who have security detail, but want to take my right to protection away.
Good guess though...
Wow, the metal machining work you guys are doing is SICK!! Subscribed!!!
So then, "accountant" is the correct answer?
Or maybe it is the Secret Squirrel Service. Better pay and better working conditions. So I hear. I don't know. It's secret, after all.
