The ones that came with my phone.
I could never spend money on headphones/earbuds.

You couldn't pay me to wear those giant ones that rappers endorse, well I'd take 20 million to wear one for 20 minutes perhaps lol

That's cool. I listen to music all the time so I am willing to pay a little bit more for good earbuds. Yeah, but I don't plan on paying several hundred dollars plastic junk rappers endorse.

Been carrying these for a few weeks and they work great for me. Keep the pockets open for other gadgets, don't tangle and I barely notice them around my neck. Great for phone calls, podcasts, and some music, though the sound is not as high quality as in other headphones. Most importantly, they're difficult to misplace, since they rarely leave my neck.

I have five pairs of headphones (all given to me as gifts over the years), including a pretty nice Bluetooth set. However I keep going back to this pair that I got with my phone. They're comfortable and I really like the case. It fits easily into whatever bag I'm carrying.

I have a basic set of Philips ear buds I typically use. If I'm traveling or just want more comfort or crisper sound I have a full sized pair of Philips noise canceling headphones, powered by 1 AAA battery.

My life has a pair of pricey Skull Candy buds but I find them uncomfortable and they don't stay in my ears...

I carry Sennheiser CX160 with me. They are very comfortable, and have a very good all round sound. Best part is the price :)

I had brought some 'pumps' from kickstarter which I currently carry with me as well which I am testing for durability. I got them and was amazed with the bass they had (nice punch at fairly low sound levels) but found they very comfortable due to custom ear buds that were very hard (tried a spare set from my sennheisers but they were very loose on the holder). As well as this, I broke my pair after two weeks normal use which were lucky replaced :)

Either way, I keep finding myself going back to the CX160 even with newer models being out.

The newest Iphone earbuds work for me the best but seem to develop a short very quickly. Any ideas on what to buy that are the same style and won't break the bank but will last?

I rarely use earbuds, headphones, etc. I have the ones that came with my S5 in a pouch with the rest of my cables and stuff, but if I'm actually going to use them, I have a set of Sony noise cancelling buds. I EDC an Ultra Ears bluetooth speaker that sees way more use.

I buy cheap earbuds in large-ish amounts and cycle through them as they break. I've had fairly high end buds, and they lasted longer and had better sound quality...but they still broke too quickly for the price. I only use buds in the gym, so if I want good audio quality, I use my over ear phones.

Currently, I'm carrying some apple buds. Have a couple pairs, actually.

I used to use Skull Candy brand buds. Good sound and not terribly expensive, and very good fit(for me anyways) since they come with multiple tips. But like Ralys said they tend to break eventually so I just use the Apple buds that I've acquired through the years. I could probably go back to the SCs since I've found better ways of storing and carrying them but that's money better spent elsewhere.

I used to have etymotic er-4s that were great. Unfortunately, they broke after a couple years, and etymotic didn't make any that seemed as good.

Since then, I haven't wanted to risk nice earbuds/headphones unless I have to. At home, I use sennheiser hd-25s. I carry around Sony or skullcandy earbuds, whatever is cheapest and comes with several silicone sleeves. They sound like garbage, but they work. And, they last long enough.
