Discussion in 'Where, When, & How Do We Carry All This Stuff?' started by Clarence Whirley, Mar 2, 2010.
The short answer will be "Why not?"
No doubt... ~Grin~ But we all have our obsessions, and our rationalizations; me with my specialty bags, and my "Throwers" and my "Flooders"... I'm pretty sincerely interested in what the appeal is to multiple blades. I may start that thread up tonight, when I get home...
Who carries two knives on them at a time?
Before you do, use the "Search Forums" feature. I know there has been at least one thread on thet topic in the last 6 months.
Ahhh! Da'Plumr beat me to it!
It took forever to find it too
Danke Schoen; I shall enlighten myself.
I got it from The Container Store. It's a 1 oz. Nalgene Snap Closure Leakproof Vial; listed under 'bottles and medication' on their website. There's extra room, so I used a small piece of that 3M double sided tape (w/red backing) to hold a piece of some firm foamy/rubbery material in the bottom of the vial. I used another small piece of that tape to hold on a small circle of thin packing foam under the lid. If you use the right amount (thickness) of material, there'll be no rattle.
Alternatively, you can get one of those orange waterproof matchstick containers and just put some foam or something thin on both ends for a perfect fit.
OK.. WARNING: Geek Alert!!
I go the bowl route as well:
There. That's not so bad, is it? Not too geeky at all, really.
It's from an Profiles In History auction.
It's Captain Archer's EDC bowl, from his quarters...
...Aaaand There's the geek.
I'm pretty simple. One day when I was purging, I found a plastic pencil box that I used to use when I was in Elementary school almost 20 years ago! It got perfectly into one of the unused drawers in our kitchen. It works perfectly.
Looks like an asian soup bowl where the notches are for chopsticks. Very nice though, and geek is a good thing!
May well have been; they used a lot of found items on set. But I've got the Captain's soupbowl... so... ...er... There's that... ~Grin~
This is just a shelf I got from Ikea for my daily dump. (I couldn't help but chuckle)
i don't have anything yet, it all just goes on my dresser but i'm thinking about buying one of these bowls made out of a record
Buy a record and make one yourself. Plenty of instructions online, it's really easy. And I'm sure the mark up is crazy on the bowls since you can probably get records for free or close to it if you look around
finally i got my naval style desk thing and just love it
The wife an I bought some new bedroom furniture last summer. I'm a hobbyist woodworker and Greene and Greene furniture is some of my favorite. Local store was going out of business and carried Stickley's version and the clearance price worked it's way into my budget. Anyway, my wife gave me the chest and she took the dresser. The chest had a double door in the center and apothacary style draweres on either side. I didn't know what I was going to do with the doored area, but I have it all figured out now! The center drawer below the doors is my main dump area for main edc knives, wallet, watches, card carrier, change etc. The doored area has my jewelry box filled with my folding knives, flashlights, cameras, watch, etc. Here's a few pics:
Guess I can post a updated picture of the Rotation shelf 2.0..
So when you get home....you pull out all your gear and put it back in there spots?
Sometimes. But it usually just sit in my pockets to the next day. I put the flashlight and Pioneer on the nightstand.
And when I have my morning coffee, I go in and have a look and see what feels right for the day.
If I'm going to do some real work, or just relax and drink more coffee.
