Ha ! It's slightly different here in Vegas [people want you to tip them for looking at you], and true I failed to mention the latter and, it's not always the same person ,) BE WELL .. GH
I try to keep it simple, for function and cost, and therefore do the following. Most of my stuff I take to office is always in my bag. I place bag in room and maybe then put the few things that I have on my person in the bag as well (train ticket, access pass etc.). I keep my keys and mobile on the table. If I need my work laptop or vpn key then when finished it goes back in my bag by default. This way in the morning I have everything in my bag, barring my keys and mobile which are on the table.
i have a wooden cigar box on my dresser, that i picked up at my local smoke shop for $2. it holds everything from my pockets and keeps the stuff neat and out of the way.
I picked this 6 drawer cabinet up at Fred's for $25, real wood, light weight but not balsa wood.....15.5"x13.5" x 24"H without the wheels....drawer side depth is a ream of paper 2.25"
I SO wish they sold those over here. We can get the "proper" Gerstner chests but they cost 200-300 quid!!!! $64!!!! Blimey! Thats only about 45 quid!!!!!!!!!!
I do the switch to different next day pants thing too, but not out of emergency, probably out of laziness..
I find the easiest thing is to sleep in my clothes. That way, I don't have to have anything to empty my stuff into.
I had my eye on a metal file drawer cabinet at work that had about 20 shallow drawers & wouldve been perfect for knives, lights & all manner of EDC accoutrements, BUT, even though my bosses said i could have it (as it was being thrown out) someone else took it with some scrap metal to the scrap yard & now its probably been crushed - Im gutted! What a waste!
I know! Im so angry & disapointed, it didnt even weigh very much, so theyd have got next-to-nothing for it as scrap. Its my own fault for not putting a label on it saying "Save for Stu" (I usually do!!)
Basically everything onto the table except any loose change I happen to have which goes into a small box.
I use a wooden box, I found in a thrift store for £5, to store smaller items, although that Maxped travel tray keeps winking at me with come hither eyes.
Upside-down baseball hat. This is with me when I travel, too. Occasionally when traveling I'll just dump the pockets into my backpack or messenger bag. This ensures that my things are always with me, if not on my immediate person.
